yksehtniycul, you can make such a section, and links to our files. But in our hosting restriction on downloading from the foreign countries  frown

Well, we will always host our own files. I guess we might have a reputation of "hotlinking" images, but it's just out of laziness/expediency.

When and if that happens someone can upload whatever files to the website, including possibly the ones at megaten.ru if you don't mind sharing rainbow

Things tend to happen slow around here. I guess we are more about endurance than cast iron zeal.

PS: I'm a little curious what your restriction specifically is about "foreign countries", eg. were you technically abusing your host's policies in inviting me to download the Mega CD SMT?

^One thing I think there must be is a way to download a list of urls, then somehow have that then downloaded by another program. Like a bittorrent file only simpler.

I meant to add... I'm not sure how rar breaks up it's files or why. My guess is originally it was for storing them onto floppy disks. There is probably a better way to go about it. Such as a program that will split any file up and generate checksums at the same time. I wouldn't recommend rar as a format anyway, but it does have that functionality built in. I'm guessing you can choose what size the rar cabinets (or whatever they're called should be) but maybe not.

For a file like 4GB, I'd suggest breaking it up int about 20 or 40 pieces. We'd probably need large files broke up anyway eventually if I can ever get an html way of uploading files going. Problem is I don't know how to download folders via html, but there is probably a way. Would certainly not be cool to ask people to download that many files individually. There is just a basic problem with downloading files that size when you're dealing with data that expects itself to be 100% intact. It's very likely the large file will be corrupted somewhere after download, and then people have to re-download the file (more bandwidth) and it might happen again and again, and a lot of the times you just can't download/upload stuff that is really big under many conditions.
79  Be Your True Mind / Find Your Voice / NEWS: Digitaldevildb.com is back / licking its wounds on: August 30, 2009, 02:54:54 PM
Maybe someone could hurry up and write up a news post like this. If not I will take a stab at it asap.

We just need to explain the website is back but being repaired. And maybe we could ask for advertisers.

I'm going to see if I can get the google search to work, but I really want to purge any sign of google from this website (other than hate filled diatribes decrying the evil of googledom)

PS: It's very easy to block google ads even from google.com and and gmail etc. Just get adblocker plus on your browser (#1 addon for Firefox) and add http://*.googlesyndication.com/* to your list of filters (rules) ...afaik ads are the only way google makes money, so hit'em where it hurts.

However we ultimately handle advertising on this website (even if only friendly pseudo-advertising) we won't use ad servers so they should not be blockable.

Well in general I don't think it's safe having files this size in one big chunk. I recommend using a compression method that can split the file up into multiple chunks (like rar) then using one of those programs that writes a text file with the checksum for every chunk, which you can run a program with that will say if any of the chunks are bad, so that that way you can just download the chunks that are bad.

Soon I think I will setup a subdomain which we can basically use like anonymous ftp, so everyone can upload large files to the host. Might call it comp.digitaldevildb.com, dunno. Still I don't think it's safe to have a 4GB file. To easy to be corrupted at any point during download. I guess technically you should always check your files to make sure they work before submitting them for download as well smug

It's going to take me a while to get everything back to / as good as it was.

You're right... I was able to get to the front page from http://www.digitaldevildb.com/ just now, so I guess one of the host support people fixed that for us in the meantime.
82  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Megaten Hell / Re: Demonic Illustrations & Resources [Latest: Random scans, Pg. 2] on: August 29, 2009, 06:35:40 PM
^Well, I'm sure Kerberos shares the same graphic. Same skillset/stats clearly. I'm guessing the story Kerberos you meet around Tokyo Destiny Land is also named Pascal. I never really liked the idea that Pascal is Kerberos. I prefer to think Kerberos is summoned by sacrificing Pascal (in turn imparting special loyalty to Kerberos) ....but then I really don't like SMT. Heresy I say.

Edited: But I dunno. He does have more of a dog tail instead of Kereberos' rat tail thing. My favorite Kerberos is the Kyuuyaku one (ultra rare concept art is in the forum banner)

We have everything wink
http://megaten.ru/Files.html

Now that's amazing 5innocent2

This website is really in a bad place. We need to get a section like this up here. We can do it technically now, but legally I think we need an indirect way to go about...

And I worked so hard to track down a copy of Giten PC88!  doh

PS: Screenshots.
84  Be Your True Mind / Find Your Voice / Re: Is there any news fit to print? on: August 29, 2009, 04:37:53 AM
Just to remind myself, the Slimbox doohicky is not working right. Probably because of Firefox3.5.

I've noticed http://www.digitaldevildb.com/bbs/ works now, though we are still having trouble with the main website at http://www.digitaldevildb.com/.

http://www.digitaldevildb.com/index.php works however. At any rate things are slowly coming around for what it's worth. Feel free to tell the world http://www.digitaldevildb.com/bbs/ is back, and hopefully http://www.digitaldevildb.com/ will be as well asap.
86  Reincarnation / Welcome Back / Re: The NEW Reincarnation (2009) on: August 28, 2009, 06:14:18 PM
The domain has been transferred for a couple days now, however for some reason nothing has ever worked properly throughout this entire ordeal and I've been fielding support tickets to try to get the host to set everything up correctly.

I honestly don't understand this hosts business model. At like 6$ a month they've probably already spent anywhere from 30~100$ or more on us. The shear number of support tickets is just absurd. With all the tasks that require manual intervention, to pay for the support and technical staff is going to be well over 6$ a month.
87  Reincarnation / Welcome Back / Re: The NEW Reincarnation (2009) on: August 27, 2009, 01:10:18 AM
Ok, from what I am able to understand the domain is back in place and we are just waiting for the dns to propagate around the internet.

If we're not back at digitaldevildb.com within 24~48hrs I don't know what is not right. Technically you could reach us from that address at any second...
88  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Megaten Hell / Re: Demonic Illustrations & Resources [Latest: Random scans, Pg. 2] on: August 27, 2009, 12:05:58 AM
Well rather than hunting down the original illustrations thread hilighting the Demi-Pascal illustration, I thought I'd post this here:

http://zoome.jp/kyitrin/diary/4

Yep, the Mega-CD actually has a Majuu Pascal, though it's not quite like the illustration (could be the same graphic as Kerberos -- but the name is clearly Pascal)

I also read there is a special version of Baal in this one based on the MT2 design. The name is spelled slightly differently as well in MT1/2; バアル instead of バール I think.

Also worth pointing out the sprite is very different, so I'm curious to know if all the sprites were redone for this version, because if so this goes from my would love to have list, to most wanted list.... (even though I'm not personally a fan of SMT)

^Just on a lark, does anyone have this rom? I'd put it on the site somewhere if we can track it down.

PS: Before I close this page/reboot I will screenshot the relevant frame if I can.
89  Reincarnation / Welcome Back / Re: The NEW Reincarnation (2009) on: August 24, 2009, 02:38:02 PM
I am uploading a newer version of the bbs theme and the newest backup of the bbs' attachment folder. It's possible some attachment/avatars added since the website was moved could be overwritten or made to appear missing.

The domain transfer still does not appear to have been finalized, I'm not sure how many days it's been since we were told 5~7 but it should be soon at any rate.

PS: Some theme images might be missing until I can hand point them to this new/temporary website address.
90  Be Your True Mind / Find Your Voice / The website is getting a wiki... born of blood and fire. on: August 23, 2009, 02:12:25 AM
The website is inheriting a wiki... congratulations.

This is not altogether good news. Unfortunately it turned out the user (will edit in asap) that posted in here earlier about the wiki turned out to be a closet comic book arch villain. And to make matters worse, the Wikia website or whatever we found out was an utter laughing stock when it came to dealing with said arch villain or ethical dilemmas in general.

Anyway, the only ethical thing to do was abandon the Wikia wiki, so we had to install a branch here... which will basically have to compete until the wikia wiki dies out in shame or implodes  upon itself.

I'm sort of in the process of documenting some examples of the utterly shocking abuses of authority and basic bad taste that went on during the final days of the attempt to salvage the original wiki. So don't be surprised if I archive some evidence in this thread.

An attempt to explain everything would be ridiculous at this point, but we will include extensive accounts in the new wiki once it goes full on public.

The new wiki will be completely free in the same way this forum is. Only unethical activity will be discouraged. Arguments, high jinks, whatever is all encouraged of course.

Technically 2/3rds of the administration staff will be defecting, but that really only amounts to me and the other sysop (of 3) ...the original founder quit leaving the wiki without a Bureaucrat (but he wasn't helping in the first place)

The wiki will eventually be here (http://wiki.digitaldevildb.com/wiki/) ...for editing that is. Reading for the general public will be at http://www.digitaldevildb.com/wiki/.

But until our domain transfer goes thru is currently accessible here (http://www.swordofmoonlight.com/wiki.digitaldevildb.com/wiki/)

The backup of the image files we got was incomplete (bad file I guess) ...I'm in the process of requesting a complete backup.

^It's possible importing the image files will require overwriting the wiki. So don't bother editing it yet or registering.

PS: There will be some things I will have to fix on an individual basis to match the Wikia install environment, but the wiki should work fine as soon as the image files are all there (though these things will look wrong until I can hunt them all down)
