121  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Velvet Room / Re: Persona 5 "exclusive" for PS3? on: July 22, 2009, 12:35:35 PM
I've been picking at Raidou a little lately. I really like it's more realistic visuals, and the fact that it doesn't look completely out of this world (unlike all the other games the last several years) ...I kinda get the impression that Raidou was a warm up for P3 type graphics for a classic Megaten game. Persona on the other hand has been going down an increasingly more anime road (even though Nocturne definitely dove off in an abstract artistic direction as well)

Still, even if P5 is slated for the PS3, it would really demonstrate Atlus priorities if a Persona game was the first to hit the PS3. Though Atlus has a tradition of it's first games on a new console being from one of the gaiden series, but Persona has been around for a while now. Usually the first game inaugurates a new series altogether, which is why Strange Journey might've seemed more likely to touch base on the PS3.

I thought P3 was Atlus' slickest game yet, but I just can't seem to commit to playing it because I feel like using the Nocturne devils as Personae totally sucked all the life out of the game. That and the weak system around developing Personae. I would've rather there only been a small set of original Personae to all those devils used that way. It just didn't work when the rest of the game is so original. I mean, the original Personae (Orpheus) is hardly worth using, just a pain to keep leveled up, while you have a bunch of generic devils that you've seen time and again that just don't fit. What's the point really.

PS: I hope the next SMT game is SMTIII and not SMTIV. Would be fitting for the PS3 after all (not that I much care about the SMT series)

Is there any way to save the images from Gonintendo? I'm very illiterate on any way other than *right click, save image as* and since that's not working... sick
There are many ways, and very simple at that. I couldn't give specific instructions not knowing your browser. But it should just involve a few clicks tops.

PPS: What is "Great Pascal" from?? I thought that design was just old concept art that was never used???

Edited: Please tell me the Gaki have well defined genitalia aroused

Oh man, sorry, forgot to close the second nobbc tag (those just make it so I could type the img tags normally but ended up totally changing the meaning of my last post^)

Anyway, maybe you already had them posted as images but they were just showing up as urls to me?? Anyway, if you did actually put your stuff in nobbc (i can see some in your post) tags, it would not work right... again sorry sorry Vouivre.

PS: What is "Vouivre" from???

Did this like just happen or something? I thought I'd be the first to post some crap...

Promo reels(http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=90216)

Meh, the cast looks a lot more international, but sorry, Megaten has been weird enough lately... either the "strange" part is redundant, or it's going to be even weirder (and for the DS no less) tongue

PS: Too bad it's not weird in that enduring Urusei Yatsura way.

Put all of your urls inside [img][/img] tags please biggrin

A tripod and remote can work miracles. Video output on a camera can be great too cool

129  Post Apocalyptic Hellscape / The Underground / Re: More ads... on: July 19, 2009, 05:11:57 PM
6$ Yesterday... if every day was like we would have an annual budget of 2190$ and could literally pay contributors for articles, or spread the money out like royalties every quarter...

PS: I'm the account manager, so my clicks don't count.

PPS: It's really not hard to do 6$ a day. The site could do a lot better than that if everyone who read it really cared about it enough to give the ads a look now and then crying

The ads can be fairy interesting -- or better yet really amusing. Hell if only the more vocal transient community made a little effort we could a lot better than 6$ a day sweatdrop

Edited: Btw, I think the ads are becoming more valuable again, like before the whole economy scare hubbub...

I've never seen any of the illustrations from the "one of Kaneko's Compendium books" link, so I'm guessing this is book 2 (the second devil volume)

If the scans were better quality I might put them up (though without permission) as Tony had a page for the first book (which I've since added to the books section of the site) but doesn't have the second (the third is character artwork)

Icy (founder of the wikia megamitensei.wikia.com wiki) recently purchased either both of the devil books or all three, and was scanning them into the wiki (though I don't think he got past the first book before he stopped doing this) ...anyway, he promised (more or less) me he would make an archive of his scans for the second book once he has them finished and get it to me somehow so we can put it on the site. His scans are higher resolution than the ones we have for the first book and look good. If he ever finishes I will have to write some gd (not goddamn) code to generate multiple resolution versions of the file (like I did for the P4 manga) so they'll match the first books page.

PS: Best Lilith ever, except her face is a bit lopsided. The SMT remake illustration wasn't bad except for Kaneko's new cankle obssession (really, wtf is with the cankles???) ... In general all around the the devils in the second volume are more interesting compositions to me.

A lot of this is more for the Encyclopedia and collectibles area (and other specialized pages that should probably exist)

The "demonary" really just requires people help with the Google Spreadsheet (http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=piKSlpkg0llAny-VoXNRkKQ&hl=en) effort to account for all the in-game stats. Also in-game graphics and sprites can go in the demonary databases. But it's really a game centric part of the website (should it ever really get off the ground)

I don't know if Google Spreadsheets is just not engaging enough for people, or if it is just too hard to figure out / too resource hungry, but I can't think of a better way in the meantime, and even beginning to do something more homegrown that everyone could work on simultaneously would be a major development commitment.

PS: What I've set things up to do, is to take a more or less complete spreadsheet and turn it into a page like this(http://www.digitaldevildb.com/demonary/velvet-room/persona/)
133  Be Your True Mind / The Turnstile / Re: The Megami Tensei Wiki at Wikia on: July 18, 2009, 02:52:51 AM
Google seems to have finally gotten it's hooks into these pages. That is I'm seeing a lot more of them via the google search form on the main site pages.

I wish there was a better way to make them more prominent from the front page, but I've listed them in a new "special features" page, basically a hilights roundup. And you can get there from a few clicks from the new "partnerships" page as well. Once there though you just get the category index. So really the easiest way to get started is via a search. Speaking of which I need to work on techniques to keep google from indexing crap like the rss feeds on the main site pages, because they just generate mostly a bunch of almost useless search links.

Anyway, all the content in the wiki almost makes this site seem informative for a change!
134  Be Your True Mind / Find Your Voice / Re: NEWS: Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey on: July 17, 2009, 10:33:35 PM
I think the ambiguous date actually indicates that the SMT logo is bullshit. A corporation would be way more media conscious than to publish it that way, and it just doesn't look like an Atlus produced logo. Atlus is slick as shit (if little else) and that logo is just not doing it.

Truthfully my instinct is to pull the story, but I don't give a shit. It sounds like there's been enough speculation that Atlus would've released a statement somehow if people were off on the wrong track. But at the same time, putting this sort of really idiotic teaser up I think deserves this sort of negative attention.

PS: I mean there doesn't seem to be anything to connect this swf applet to any other game in Atlus' quiver. So why not just release a statement or have one of their people mention they have a new game. It would be about as effective.
135  Be Your True Mind / Find Your Voice / Re: NEWS: Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey on: July 17, 2009, 01:48:55 PM
Do you think it's too soon to translate Strange Journey in the post? Btw, is "strange journey" ever on the official website? Or just that logo the blogger supposedly pulled from the page?

Is Shin Megami Tensei even on the website?? I'm sort of thinking it's too early to put a title on this teaser (but I'm also feeling lazy and apathetic)
