Just to let everyone know I'm still committed to seeing this website (or what is left of it) thru, here is my personal todo list for 2010. If you're reading this don't think unkindly about what I'm not doing for the website, ask yourself what you could do to improve the site.

*repair everything that is not working (of course.)
*repair mobile phone etc support.
*try to get all the screenshot pages back up in the archives
*try to put the archives videos back now that we have a way to cope with the bandwidth
*try to use this (http://web.archive.org/web/20071027111507/http://www.digitaldevildb.com/) to reconstruct the archive news pages as much as possible.
*try to use Jessicat's Kyuuyaku Kerberos scan to make a better quality forum logo.
*do my best to find a new font/look for the forum banner.
*get all the Google crap out of the pages (not the anti-Google stuff, I'd welcome more of that)
*try to find a replacement for Google Spreadsheets (eg. maybe Sheetster) for the Demonary projects (or what's left of them)
*of course finish up/continue perfecting the new YaCy site wide search (replacing Google Custom Search)
*eventually upgrade WordPress (and continue to do so)
*convert all my WordPress source code hacks into a custom WordPress plugin (so WordPress can be upgraded on demand)
*program a WordPress to Simple Machine Forums bridge plugin so user accounts and login will be site wide.
*make all registered parties automatically able to write (not publish) posts and pages and upload media to the WordPress Media Library (should work better on the new host)
*try to improve YaCy if necessary so to better index the site (primarily not indexing keywords, sidebar stuff, and rss feed summaries, so if you search for Persona you don't get back every page on the website!!)
*find a a way to build a really solid sitemap (should not be too hard on the new host) so YaCy can keep the website index up to date.
*try to figure out a donation system (surely someone out there appreciates the website / can spare a dime)

PS: When I say try I mean I'll follow thru, but sometimes things just don't work out for technical reasons

PPS: Full disclosure, most if not all of the technical stuff I'm doing for other (higher priority) websites as well.

I care about Devil Children I think... or at least the different take on the Devils is always interesting

Sure whatever manga/books you have I will try to get up asap. Just give me some info on what we should call it / who to thank (give credit to) for the translation work. Its preferable you upload this zips, though not a big deal as long as the images are kept in their own folders per book. I just honestly couldn't bear to go thru the "MegaUpload" process for all those downloads (if you don't already have the downloads handy really you don't have to put yourself out unless you wanna for "everyone" reading the website)

Btw, this (http://www.digitaldevildb.com/search/?q=Atlus) is getting there.... still working on the right filter to keep out unwanted pages (like all the different language pages etc) ...and the next page arrows aren't working / lot's of other stuff that could use some polish and advance search.

I put the wiki pages back to scraping megamitensei.wikia.com until something comes up.


Oh and just to gloat/veer offtopic: tonight I finally got around to putting this PS2 with a hdd/network adapter I picked up almost last year to work. I can upload games (any region/"backups") over the network to the harddrive and play it almost like Playstation Network games. Still have to get up and hit the power button!! To celebrate I'm thinking about maybe giving "SMT3:N MANIAX:Chronicle Edition" *catches breath* a shot (never given Nocturne a fair chance) ...or I might see what odd thing I can think to dl first

We're working to provide better and alternative ways of finding old and new content. " disclaimer on the search page now.... this new system will be really great. But I'll probably have to come up with a new one warning about slow response times or failure seeing how the new "Google" server is just a remote commercial cable server (in town) I use for P2P and stuff!!

I think comp.digitaldevildb.com should be working again (soon) ...It will take up to 48hrs though for the DNS overrides to sink in for sure.

EDITED: Aaaaaah I think it should be working immediately actually. I hadn't realized you'd moved some links under jessicat_etc... (I have not yet personally tested the ftp login however)

If you have all of these downloaded it would be much easier on me if they were uploaded to the comp subdomain (I will make that work again asap if need be) ...the upload hosts are a real pain to work with.

I'm so busy with free time projects lately, but I'm going to get the site index/search working again hopefully by this weekend.

The Persona 4 manga are back up in all their spendor (http://www.digitaldevildb.com/print/manga/dengeki-maoh-p4/gallery/?vol=3)

I would've really liked to see more volumes and the P3 manga as well, but it's too bad that never took off. If someone can track all the files down I'd post them up without asking permission until asked to take them down.

Next up I think all the Google scripts need to be tracked down and removed... what a pain in the ass

The site has moved again... probably to it's final resting place, at least for the next 5yrs.

The site is now hosted by WebFaction. Try to find a bad word about WebFaction online, you probably can't, and virtually every amenity imaginable is at the site's fingertips thanks to WebFaction. Site wide search should be back in short order, and my life will be made a lot easier at every turn. The domain will be transferred over to the Gandi.net (another class act) registrar service asap (for anyone setting up a website; make sure your webhost is a separate entity from your domain registrar or your likely to find yourself in a world of hurt)

However everything is not back 100% yet. But already many features that were made impossible by the previous 2009 host have now returned.

The Megaten Wiki mirror has not yet been transferred over. And some things are in limbo because the site is being split between the WebFaction server and a separate unlimited storage/bandwidth host for downloads. I have yet to decide where to point the comp.digitaldevildb.com subdomain as well.

A number of other pages are not working while I work out how this host does many things slightly differently. The BBS and standard Wordpress features all appear to be in working order however.

Future news will be posted here.

^BTW, thanks so much... it's this sort of thing that makes holding this place together all worthwhile 

These, MT1, and MIP are the absolute best of Megaten spritedom. These are so good, I have no clue why the Win98 sprites were so fucked up. I don't even think they were the same designs...

I have been gradually repairing things... if only to assuage my guilt about it for a little while longer. The website will be moving to a new webhost very soon. That should make search and other things possible again on the website.

Otherwise nothing new is happening or apparently on the horizon. The move should feel seamless, though I don't think anyone would notice if it wasn't. I might make a last ditch effort to repair everything I can think of remaining before making the move.

These are truly my favorites. I need to find a way to download the whole website!! This isn't the original place that had them up... those were all on a single page.

The present webhost is firewalling all the ports normally allowed by commercial ISPs. So there's no way to access the YaCy server until we lease a new webhost. This development will probably speed up that eventuality.

We don't have to necessarily move the website immediately to the new host. It should be possible to request the YaCy search results from the new webhost, which would then in turn request the results from the YaCy server, then get back to this (present) host with your search results.

Just for the record,

The downtime yesterday was not our fault. The webhosts infrastructure was on the fritz all day... no news yet if there are any lasting adverse effects. Everything appears normal.
