106  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Velvet Room / Re: Help with home-made Persona booklet on: September 07, 2006, 03:48:28 PM
That would be very nice. Any exclusive artwork that you can scan in due course would be great - I've had an hours look at stuff on the net, and I've found some nice things (I love the Japanese Persona cover!) but your help would be appreciated.

Character bio's are a little hard to come by - if anyone could give me a quick, non-biased sentence on any character you feel is important - playable or not - I would love it. Actually, a few (sensible) personal comments on characters would be fine.

Cheers much.
107  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Velvet Room / Help with home-made Persona booklet on: September 07, 2006, 09:01:05 AM
Yes, I'm sad but I would like to make my own Persona booklet to slip inside the cover, as when my copy arrives, it will be blank. I know what the front cover looks like, so I'll print it off on some nice quality photo paper to give it that PS1 gloss. However, I would like to make a booklet for the game.

My idea is to NOT make the booklet a manual, but rather a collection of artwork, character bio's and such. I would like your help to -

* if you have the booklet and wouldn't mind scanning me a few images. Please, if you are willing, make them very high quality standrad.

*find any good Persona art on the net. I'm going to go have a look in a minute, but if you have any favourite artwork you think it would be nice to have in my booklet, then please post it and I'll have a look.

*the important one. In my copy of Persona 2, there is an epitaph at the beginning that explains about reality, the Joker and all manner of existential meanderings. If there is such an epitaph in the Persona 1 booklet, I would really love to have it in my one. If there is an introduction to the story, by all means show me that as well.

Although I wouldn't conside this a "project", I would really like to make a substantial booklet. I made a DDS 1 soundtrack cover a while back and was quite pleased with it, as the NTSC special edition came with the soundtrack disc in a paper case. It gives the DDS collection a unique feel, especially since I also got a hold of the DDS2 soundtrack (a promo one) and stuck that in the case that holds both games.

Thanks very much.
108  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Velvet Room / Re: I finally got Persona 2! Yay! on: September 07, 2006, 08:25:51 AM
Yeah, my first MegaTen game - Lucifer's Call - was out 3 months before I even heard of it. Atlus seem to want to piss people off. However, the European company for DDS - Ghostlight -  are pretty awesome and the advertising for DDS was pretty good.

I just bought Persona Revelations as well. It's my university money, but.....I REALLY WANT IT! Oh well. It's coming from Canada (they're usually pretty good at posting) so it'll take around 2-3 weeks. I don't really mind, at least it's coming. It's a disc in a blank case job (why do people keep the booklet and cover? I know some lose it, but I get the feeling some people "collect" them. But what's the point of keeping the bits to a game you're going to sell?) so I'm going to print off my own cover (I know what the Revelations cover looks like) and might make my own little booklet. I have a lot of spare time on my hands :buh:

"Hey, I'll give you a shiny Pikachu card for all your incredibly rare, hard to find, prisitine copy of Persona:Innocent Sin!"

If only.

I can't believe it. I just went eBay-ing to buy Persona 1 and there are 2 copies there - but only the disc! No artwork or anything! Oh well, one'll pop up in a week I hope. Well, that or Xenosaga 3...but I want Persona more.

I read up those sites, Tony - cheers - and Innocent Sin looked pretty interesting. The reasons for not releasing a NTSC-US Innocent Sin were somewhat lacking though -

"Oh, a homosexual-esque character. We totally can't release this in America. No way, because the sort of people who play MegaTen games are EVIL GAY HATERS."

Call me cynical, but I think they misunderstood their target audience there. I mean, SMT:Nocturne was released without much hassle and that would raise an equal amount of controversy in my eyes (it's pretty obvious which ending is the "proper" wnding).
110  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Velvet Room / I finally got Persona 2! Yay! on: September 03, 2006, 02:43:12 PM
Unfortunately, I fell on my PS2 and I won't be able to go on Persona 2 for another week whilst it's being fixed. Dammit.

The case etc is very nice though - this is my first NTSC PS1 game, and all I can say is you Yanks are lucky bastards! :P The inlay, bonus disc and assorted artwork is bloody amazing. I was lucky enough to get the game in pristine condition, and boy does it show. I simply cannot wait to play this game.

Anyway, the point of this thread - backstory on Revelations and Innocent Sin.
Before I go off and search the net for what I can find, can anyone here give me a fairly detailed overview of both games? I want to know as much as I can about the Persona storyline before I play Persona 2. Although I'm trying hard to get Revelations, I don't mind the story being somewhat spoilt and as Innocent Sin was never released outside of Japan, I'll have to know anyway. I have read many reviews of Persoan 2 and most lower the marks due to many references being made to both Revelations and Innocent Sin, so I want to know what I can.

Thank you in advance.

* Thank you very much for putting up that Ghostlight interview, guys! I knew both Megatens out in Europe were underground successes. I may be the only PAL-er here (I think) but thanks much!

Having never played Xenogears due to Japanese game developers hatred of Europe (Yes, I'm bitter), I'm interested to see where this goes. I'm trying to get a hold of Xenogears - pretty cheap on eBay - but there was that weird bit in Xenosaga 1 near the end, where some guy who looked like Fong (that's the lead characters name in Xenogears, isn't it? Or something like?) in child form who is playing with what seem to be bricks, who looks up after Sophie Pietos is defeated. But didn't Xenogears have the tentative "Episode 5" in the credits? There's only 3 Xeno games on PS2, unless they're gonna make more.

Meh. Isn't more than one version going to be released of this game? SE's gone milk-the-FF-cow crazy.

Hah! Get this....FF13 will be released before FF12 on PAL -

FF12 - 23rd Feb 2007

FF13 - 17th Nov 2006

I love SE.
113  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Velvet Room / Re: New Copies of Persona 2 Released on: August 27, 2006, 03:17:00 PM
I'm glad CAC is being released on NTSC-US then (there's some real crap rumours on eurogamer every now and again). I'll be able to get it on shiny American import when it comes out :D

Imports are preferable to PAL copies. Often PAL copies are horrid transitions from NTSC to PAL (Atelier Iris, Lucifer's Call) have huge borders (FF10) or just plain aren't released (Why, Namco with Xenogears, why?!...plus every other 1995-1999 Jap RPG to date). 60HZ games look better and play faster.
114  Be Your True Mind / Digital Millennium / Haven't been around for a while due to Xenosaga... on: August 27, 2006, 03:11:27 PM
Sorry I haven't been around for a while, but I recently bought Xenosaga (I wasn't meant to get Persona 1, but to get Persona 1 would cost £50 and for that price, I could get BOTH Xenosagas on NTSC format. Sorry Atlus.) and have been wasting my life on them.

What do you guys think? I thought Xenosaga 1 was a great game - definately in my top ten with Lucifer's Call and DDS. However, I thought Xenosaga 2 was a lazy effort and I'm glad Namco took note. I hear they've decided to change Xenosaga 3 slightly in co-ordinance with the fans' and director's wishes. I'm looking forward to it.

I eager to find out the rest of the story, but I get the impression that with the original creators of the first game leaving, things may go south. I guess I'll have to wait (and hopefully Xenosaga 3 will be immense).
115  Be Your True Mind / Digital Millennium / Re: Okami on: July 07, 2006, 08:36:25 AM
The Japanese version was reviewed in PLAY magazine and scored a whopping 93%! Apparently, there are heavy RPG aspects in what I previously thought was a platformer. There are dungeons, villages, sidequests etc. I am now VERY interested in buying this.
116  Be Your True Mind / Digital Millennium / Re: Final Fantasy XIII on: July 07, 2006, 08:34:18 AM
Yeah, apparently the guy who worked on FFX and FFX-2 is working on this.

Uh oh.
117  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Velvet Room / Re: New Copies of Persona 2 Released on: July 04, 2006, 11:34:02 AM
Prolly not. I thought they wanted to release it on PAL/NTSC-US at the same time.

Code Age Commanders is the one that (I think) is only going to be released in Japan and Europe. I read that on eurogamers.
118  Be Your True Mind / Digital Millennium / Re: Final Fantasy XIII on: July 03, 2006, 12:04:25 PM
I dunno. It still looks incredibly similar to every other FF from 10 onwards (with upped graphics). I'd much prefer it if they concentrated on something new, although that will prolly never happen.
119  Be Your True Mind / Digital Millennium / Re: Current? on: July 03, 2006, 12:00:02 PM
Game: Digital Devil Saga 2. Again. Just love it, plus I now have the Berserker Ring. Bwahahaha....

Film: Saw Silent Hill the other day. Wasn't terrible - if I saw it for a couple of quid I'd buy it.

Music: DDS2 Original Soundtrack. EGG Revisited.
120  Be Your True Mind / Digital Millennium / Re: Okami on: July 03, 2006, 11:56:45 AM
This seems to be one of those "gaming as an art form" type things, in the way that Shadow of the Colossus and Ico was. I'll prolly get it - the art style is very novel. The story also seems to have that distinct oriental flavour to it.
