2027  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / IMAGINE Online / STICKY: Haves & Wants go here! on: November 30, 2007, 01:49:33 PM
The rules of this thread are, you only get one post per user, and you can edit your post at any time you please. Your post should include items you are seeking, and items you need to get rid of and for what price.

Any discussion or announcement of changes to your post in this thread should occur in the other sticky thread which covers rolling chatter of transitive stuff!

*It is worth noting Imagine includes its own builtin facilities for this function, however this thread is gear toward more personable exchanges. You need not necessarily define nor realize the value of your wants, nor must you possess such requisites prior to posting.

Any bartering and handling of transactions should be managed via private messaging.
2028  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / IMAGINE Online / Hair pieces! on: November 30, 2007, 01:44:20 PM
I just had the bright idea that just maybe after aquiring a hair piece, you can change between the ones you have at anytime, rather than losing the item everytime you change your hair. Otherwise, the hair girl seems redundant, and the prices overly steep.

Has anyone tried hair who could put an end to this speculation?
2029  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / IMAGINE Online / Re: Anyone figured out the new "private klan rooms"? on: November 30, 2007, 01:39:48 PM
Apparently one of these was given at random to the players who A ranked the G1 trials during the last update period's special quest. It is acccessible via the Shinjuku elevator to member's of the lucky winner's klan.

Of course, the day I try to set up AppLocale for this I realize that I can't find my old XP disc.

Is there some other way to install East Asian Language support? I'm imagining not.

It should be easy enough if you don't mind all apps running in a locale. I'm unfamiliar witth AppLocale. I'm assuming it lets you assign locales to applications. There is probably a way to do that from the cli, but Windows is notorously undocumented and counter-intuitive in such respects.

I tend to run all of my windows installs with a Japanese locale. The only perceptible difference is your backslashes will look like a special japanese character which is better at dividing japanase characters.

To do that you just need to use the control panel to change locales, but if you don't have a windows disc you might be out of luck for installing required fonts and the Japanese IME if you didn't do this when installing Windows.

Thanks for the info. Too bad I missed out on that half off sell. I doubt they'll ever have a half off lineup that good again :/
2032  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / IMAGINE Online / Re: CP from a USA perspective on: November 28, 2007, 02:07:11 PM
I'm retisent to think so. I wanted to donate more than anything. Having CP was secondary, though I wouldn't mind being able to create another char on the same account. But in the end Cave just made it too difficult, so I'm finished putting myself out until something changes. There is no reason why the other two cards I tried should've been denied the same way. They were not platinum cards, they should go through for anything. Plus I was able to go through an elaborate verification process for the Visa cards, so there was no reason for them to be denied by the creditor.

I wasn't able to get ahold of the platinum card holder today, and the support wanted voice verification. Also the balance report had no record of denied charges. The Visa cards did appear to pass verification, but were ultimately denied in a way that looked more towards the vendor end. Perhaps CP has been denied to non-Japanese card holders more recently. It is not uncommon for Japanese financial services to exclude foreigners. If business from foreigners was desired, very likely Paypal would be an option. Webmoney is virtually impossible/unlucratice to utilize outside of Asia it appears. It is a service offered by Russians.
2033  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / IMAGINE Online / Re: CP from a USA perspective on: November 28, 2007, 01:46:56 PM
Well, I tried three different credit cards. They all failed to process in the same fashion. One Mastercard and two Visas. Apparently obtaining CP is more difficult than it seems for cardholders in the USA.

editted: I was hoping to purchase the purple suit and Longinus spear and the +5 lucky tanto in Shinjuku for half price. If anyone wants to snatch them up for me, I'll reimburse you in advance via Paypal, and be your best friend forever. Sell ends in less than 20hrs.

PS: I could be a useful person to be in good with, toot toot!

You shouldn't have any trouble, I used a VISA card and received my CP within minutes of my purchase going through.

I intend to look into it tomorrow during banking hours. Cards can be finicky. If successful, there is still a fair chance I'll miss the end the sell which is in less than two days Japanese time. It is a platinum card, the likelyhood is it tends to reject any unusual purchases without intervention now and then. Unfortunately the automated internet transaction dialog has no way to cope.
2035  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / IMAGINE Online / Re: STICKY: Playdates and trading in here! on: November 27, 2007, 06:02:09 PM
Yes there are always items for this and that. Though I admit, it never really crossed my mind to use those items for retreat. I've used them for a more speedy traversal of territory. I don't think its really relevant to the point, but more info never hurts :)

You can purchase CP with an American credit card.

I surely thought so. Perhaps I should try again. But I've heard stories of international cards not being accepted in Japan. I tried an Mastercard just for the record.

editted: I get an error message. Says I should contact the card's company.
2037  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / IMAGINE Online / Re: STICKY: Playdates and trading in here! on: November 27, 2007, 05:19:24 PM
The difficulty ramps up after the Bronze Suginami dungeon. The gameplay is fairly unforgiving for that matter. Being outnumbered is almost a certain death sentence. And retreat is rarely an option, and even when so a gamble. For some odd reason the speed attribute is very underutilized by the stat factoring system. It must do something for the demons, but the only clear benefit to having speed seems to be gun technique at this point. For players the reaction and cooldown time of skills is largely dependent upon skill leveling. And speed won't make you high tail it any quicker, any other effect of speed is again, nebulous at best. Demons seem to have their own hidden skill level system.

As for a wiki, it really seems a shame as ever to have a Megaten community divided over multiple wiki. But I would try to help foster an Imagine wiki where I can. I consider myself a casual player, but all said I play a good bit. About an hour a day on average, which to me is a lot for now, but nowhere near the spectacle of people living day in and out in an MMORPG universe :)

I didn't think I would ever play an MMORPG actually, especially being around people that do. But I haven't liked a Megaten game from Atlus in a long time. Incidentally this one is technically a Cave offering I suppose. But I reckon, if I'm ever to get a taste of the MMORPG experience, this one is the only boat for me in this lifetime.

editted: I don't think its a good idea to setup a conglomerate klan like the Globe. It is better for everyone to discuss the game publically in forums. Plus everyone should be free to arrange for their own klans amonst their close friends. Nevertheless, if anyone wants to party or tag along in a dungeon above or at their level, I don't mind helping people get into the game and get their char up and running now and then. It would probably be a good idea to pick times for socials at some spot in the game, so players can meet up and friend up, so players can at least see who is online whenever. A major update is coming btw before Christmas. Updates come every week for that matter. The game is really coming into its own. Other than the massive prevalence of oversized weapons and hokey outfits I have no real complaints.
2038  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / IMAGINE Online / CP from a USA perspective on: November 27, 2007, 05:04:35 PM
I noticed a bunch of CP items I wouldn't mind having are half price lately. I'm not sure how long the sell will last. I could've found out if I payed more attention to hte frontpage adverts, but I didn't think there would be any need to. Because I figured it was time to pony up, and pass some financial support onto Imagine.

So I went to sink some money into CP, and first found out, the Japanese apparently don't want to honor US credit cards directly. I could figure out if there is some authorization process which would permit the transaction to take place, but I don't know if I'm all that gungho really in the first place. That discovered, I figure the internet banking option is out for the same reason.

So the remaining options other than WebMoney are all Japanese native only afaik. So onto WebMoney, to find out, apparently WebMoney does everything but take money from your credit card! There was no way to put money in it, other than a wire, which is expensive, or best I could figure using third party paypal to webmoney services, which all demand absurd commisions in the 15% ballpark.

So I dunno. If anyone out there has figured this out. I think there is a CP gift option via the website. I would be happy to exchange paypal with other players for CP at the moment. I'll pay a fair commission in makka :)

editted: At least now, I don't feel so guilty about playing for free. I guess you can say, every player brings something to the game in any case :}
2039  Be Your True Mind / Find Your Voice / Re: Staff Updates on: November 27, 2007, 07:39:44 AM
The benefit of a wiki is really only that anyone can lean in and add/fix something. I don't think the Megaten community needs more than one however. All manner of diplomacy should be tried before resorting to such a fracturing gesture. I would not link to a wiki from the front page. Its an awesome way however to get everyone collaborating. You can always copy Wiki info into a more tailored layout elsewhere.

editted: The great thing about a wiki is nothing is ever completely removed. If you like something that was for some reason, just drag it back out of the history. Try to respect the original authors wishes however -- as perhaps they could've removed it themselves. And as for FAQs, just do like in highschool, take their info and make it your own. Its not even worth giving credit to FAQ writers, the info is out there, crediting them would just be clutter.

This is true. I generally don't even bother with Megami Tensei fans anymore, and only hang around on some forums because I lack anything better to do. Though, to be fair, the fanbase before the English localizations was kind of bad, too. There was a lot of drama, if I recall correctly, which drove away a lot of the more prominent Megami Tensei fans.

Very true. Though I missed out on the sunsetting of that era myself, I've heard stories, and it sounded ugly.
