National Console Support has/had a copy for 40 USD thereabouts.... Nevermind, it's sold out I guess... Sorry! I dunno I guess it was alright... Honestly the controls are kind of shitty, but at least you can see where your feet are when you're jumping. Really its the same game as X but from a 3rd person perspective. There's extra levels and secrets sure but if you've played X then you've pretty much already played Shao.

Oh, it doesn't keep the Engrish no but it still names the action in the top left corner of the screen. Somewhere there exists the ATLUS approved Engrish names for most of the nakama in Megaten, I think maybe on the collectable cards...?
Frankly the whole debacle with disc images and emulators is driving me a little bonkers. I can't really seem to get either one to work properly... My problem with the emulators seems to be the opposite of yours, the polygonal hallways look great (music skips a bit) but the sprite screens have huge pixels and the text has these shadows on it that make it really hard to read. It seems like I can sort of correct this by turning the graphics waaaaaay up but it makes everything else run a lot slower (windows, menus, loading times) and doesn't really look that much better, although it cleans up the text quite a bit.
I'm beginning to think the way this game was designed unintentionally thwarts piracy. ;_;
EDIT: yksehtniycul and I are talking about something totally divergent and unrelated to the Innocent Sin patch, sorry if there is confusion. I tend to unintentionally divert threads a lot.

No, I'm talking about the very first Persona. For some reason it looks like garbage on emulator... It also skips a lot during the opening FMV despite being played directly from the iso. I'm beginning to think the iso I have of it is just a bad copy... For one thing the kanji is completely absent from the naming menu... When I play a disc on PS1 the background swirls don't move around in rooms... and there's no sound during FMVs... Then, without fail, it freezes once I get onto the world map after leaving the Hospital, usually only after traveling a block or two. I'm guessing its when a random battle is supposed to occur... Does DS:SH retain the English spell names btw? If so you need to write up a complete list for me pronto I'm not sure what you mean...? You mean my translation for them? EDIT: Now I've pretty much tried everything... I made a different copy from a different iso and I have the same problem on both PS1 and PS2, it completely freezes just before entering battle on the town map. I'm guessing it's just the game itself then. You probably just can't run it from a copy. Emulator is probably the only way to go then... I'll give some other emulators a shot, see if I can't get it to work right. I'd really much rather play it on the console though... ;_;

When you walk into the room with the four elevators (the puzzle where you get the two princes to face each other) take the elevator right in front of the entrance to this room. The Titania is at the end of a hallway. Talk to her, defeat her, then take the key back to the entrance with the two Jack Lanterns. Then hike all the way up to the top of the tower and fight King Frost.

I could never get a burned copy of Persona to go past the initial dialog at the start of the game on my PS2. The boot disc I use works fine with PS1s and PS2s but the PS2 plays PS1 games kind of weird anyway, regardless if they're burned copies or not. I can play Persona on emulator though, it just looks all sorts of pixelated and grainy (despite plug-in settings) and the sprites just generally look like crap. I'd rather play it console but I think I'd have to find a working PS1 for it to work properly.
You could conceivably burn a copy of the finished iso of this translation onto a disc and play it on your console though, correct? I've been thinking about doing a translation for Soul Hackers (I have a lot of the groundwork laid out already) but I didn't want it to be limited to emulation-only.

I've been tooling around with a Persona/DevilSummoner-style idea for a game for years, kind of like a North American version, taking place at Miskatonic University from the Lovecraft books. Never messed around with RPG Maker but I've had friends who have. Honestly I don't really have the free time to do it, but its definitely on the back burner as far as plans go.

I wanted "joker's curse" too but finding a copy of Persona 2 in American game-stores was near impossible.
Innocent Sin? I got mine from a local import store here in town, however you could probably find a "Playstation Best" edition from a Japanese electronics import site like Play-Asia or National Console Support.

Forgot about this topic, lol :buh:
As an artist myself I actually feel kind of insulted/beat down by the system in place which basically forces you to make a living from your talents (i.e. art/design/illustration/whathaveyou) through third party middle-management. So I heartily disagree with the assumption that just because I didn't actually purchase something from a vendor (who point in fact WILL take a cut from the creator's/s' overall share) I somehow disrespect the work itself. By your own logic you'd have to buy the original Japan region disc to be able to appreciate it yourself, so your argument really doesn't hold much water. It's unclear to me these days how much the creators of any given artistic project even get from the overall profits of the art in question.
In my personal view, if something I had done, say a comic, that was translated into another language, I'd rather have my foreign readers read it in the original English, and if it was unavailable to them I would have no problem with them downloading it and would most likely encourage it.

This soundtrack rules BTW. I can sort of see where you're coming from on the Kate Bush front but only because they're using some of the same soundbanks on their synthesizers. There's a fair amount of Japanese cheese in there as well, the arranged version of the Satomi Tadashii song in particular. Honestly it does remind me a lot of NEU! 4, Kraftwerk and a lot of early to mid nineties techno.

Secrets and lies! I would never blaspheme against most traditional American music stylings. To me though there is a very distinct difference between Kenny Chesney/Billy Ray Cyrus and Hank Williams/Dolly Parton/Loretta Lynn, so maybe something I said in passing to you had been misconstrued.

Its weird that you posted up "Sora tobu yuureisen" since that was one of the first movies in college I watched all in Japanese. Sensei loved the shit out of that movie. "Taro Dragon Boy" I've seen parts of, although now that I think about it I'm not entirely sure where I would of seen them...? Possibly while I was in Japan I suppose, but I don't really remember watching much of anything while I was there tv/movies/ or otherwise. That was actually one of my major regrets about the trip was not getting in enough Japanese terebi. Television is kind of the window into any given nation's pop culture.
