I've disabled mobile support on the main website for now because I'm having a more difficult time than I would've thought integrating it with "super-caching" (which trumps mobile)

The immediate solution I'd expected to be able to hack in asap turned out to not be compatible with our software versions... in fact I couldn't even recognize any similarities between the solution and our environment.

The impression I'm getting from Google is Wordpress has traditionally not been mobile friendly just because of this clash between mobile plugins and caching. But frankly I don't understand where the prob is as long as you don't try to cache both (the mobile being the simpler of the two / less common need not be cached)

Anyway, I haven't given up, but it looks like I'll either have to roll up my sleeves and make the two work together manually (which I do all the time) ...or the alternative approach seems to be considering a Wordpress upgrade, because this seems to be not a problem for the bleeding edge Wordpress users, but considering how hacked together this site is, I'm very reticent to go for an upgrade. Or WP version is not at all that old at this point.

Anyway, mobile is off for now (Sorry)

PS: The bbs will still work. And if I am going to fix this by brute force, I'll probably install this fancy mobile pack rather than wasting time with the default mobile setup.

Oh yeah... who knows which one of these characters is the "Cozy" guy that supposedly "directed" all the Shin games? What is the kanji for his name I wonder? Was his full name "Cozy" Okada?? Or did I just make that up?

Wordpress (the software) supports all html afaik. I don't know if maybe your Wordpress blog provider will not let you use certain types of html, but I'm guessing the Viddler embed "scripts" are just html and maybe some Javascript, which should pass thru Wordpress just fine.

PS: Weren't you guys using the Devil Busting Jack Bros. graphic from the MIP game manual for your logo at one time?

You know the one... where the Bros. are decked out in swords and guns and other devil fighting paraphernalia?

Edited: Actually, that was probably the Revelations: Persona game manual. I'm not sure where that image originated to be honest...

The pages on this site are technically ready to go as far as I can foresee atm...

However, I'm a little wary to just go hog wild with this stuff without at least asking for the support of your wider community.

Could you (Bluer) please recommend a "Portal" type area of your wiki to pop the question?

Viddler sounds like it might be nice. Let us know if there are any issues. I'd really like to find a service for embedding vids in the website. I don't mind Youtube personally, but the short video limitation (part 1, part2, ...) is maybe a pain for content uploaders. It even has hd now though, and there is probably a way to preformat stuff to make the process easier.

Everyone uses something called Alcohol to rip copy-protected cds (all cds are "write-protected" in a sense -- that's what rom means )

I don't guess I've ever in my life needed to rip a real copy-protected cd. I've ripped a lot of stuff mind you, from corporate media, but I've never run into something that standard software can't do.

I don't think I've ever had much trouble with ripping/burning type stuff. Usually I have very nice software that came with the drive. But with this new portable I've been using ImgBurn (completely free ripping/burning suite I think) without any troubles.

PS: I've never started a torrent myself, but if you can point me to it, I will start downloading/seeding it for a while.

I wonder if it would be cool to setup a bittorrenting coordination campaign with this site for Megaten related stuff. We can't host the stuff directly, but if enough of our users could pitch in, we could "host" some pretty interesting stuff indefinitely.

I don't have a problem with encouraging game image bittorrents. Especially as long as CAVE is icing me out of my IMAGINE account

I will try to get this working. I suspect it will be a lot less barebones, and possibly more compatible than the default stripped down mobile plugin (which this stuff probably builds upon)

For a full quality 4GB dl, I will have to use a remote machine -- because I'm on satellite service. Usually I can do this by just about any means, except some download service providers make you go thru a verification process which I can't do remotely (though often I can do it, and figure out the location of the actual download, and hand that off to the remote machine -- if the service doesn't try to validate the session/IP etc.)

Any actual protocol like bittorrent or more standard stuff (ftp, etc -- as in "etcetera") is no prob.

I don't think the page will show up anywhere if it is not listed in an article. A wiki is really like a microcosm of the WWW. I've administrated wikis on occasion. Anyway, I was just seeing how much of your front page I could maybe salvage. Truth be told, wikis are really not very good for doing front pages. I just wanted something up quick so anyone trying out these new pages could have a place to start clicking. It makes no diff to me what that page is called. It will probably not be used for long. Feel free to rename it, if you want. I'm not sure I have the privileges to do that on your wiki. Just leave it as a redirect until I know where it's moved to.

In general wikis are open books. Anyone can make a page anywhere in your wiki at anytime. So it's not worth getting worked up about them popping up.

I will probably just setup a custom page (on our site) that might query your front page and pull info from your daily feature type stuff. That would be much more practical than expecting someone to update the features on both pages

The site Wordpress blog should be readible from your cellphones now. I could not get it to work with older phones the way the bbs does however (or at least is doesn't work with the emulator I'm using -- says: Internet error 122: The requested resource is too large -- but I'm guess the blog just isn't handling the caps of this kind of phone correctly)

Anyway, it isn't compatible with the "Super Cache" plugin the site uses, so I've disabled caching for now so you can try it. Fortunately someone else seems to have already solved this prob (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/266174) and I will follow their course just asap.

I don't know if this is frontpage news worthy once it all works out or not


I kinda prefer the the way the bbs looks. I might try hacking the Wordpress view to look more like the bbs. I dunno. If people really use the internet this way, I'd like the site to be on the cutting edge.

PS: The Wordpress mobile view seems to be a little buggy character wise. Just deal with it until I can maybe fix it?? In the meantime, if it looks normal to you on your phone, please let me know. Also screenshots would be nice if your phone can do that...

I definitely would not normally do so for just any videos, but I will download these via Veoh (or wait for an image rip one) to back them up until we can find something to do with them. These are fairly unique.
