He wants you to egg three devils... a Lilim, a baby Lantern, and a Sudama (The Lilim would be the toughest... only shows up while the Succubus Queen is prowling the docks below Shinjuku. Or you could find one behind the lv30 door down there I think. But it would be a tough spot to do convo)

Translation: probably not worth the effort (though it would be impressive!)

Sometimes these are ridiculously easy/hard, but always worth the same exp (per level)

What if this song inspired the originator of Castlevania?

http://www.last.fm/music/The+Velvet+Underground/_/Venus+in+Furs (the whole song is on the youtube applet)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venus_in_Furs

Could Castlevania be a metaphysical bdsm fantasy?

Finally, here is an information page for pages (not posts!) Which can used to copy page content over into new page translation posts.

http://www.digitaldevildb.com/maintenance/info/pages/

I will eventually add more bells and whistles to it, but you can't change anything from this page.

For now to get info on a page, you have to put the page's uri (the url without the http://www.digitaldevildb.com part) in the address bar like this:

http://www.digitaldevildb.com/maintenance/info/pages/?permalink=/anime/digital-devil-story-megami-tensei-anime-ova/

It will forgive you for the first and last slash not being there, but don't put http://digitaldevildb.com in the "permalink" variable, and don't have any arguments on the end, ie. after a ? or &. Also don't include languages on the end of the url like /es/ (Spanish) ...though someday it might handle that (but it won't work for now)

Eventually I will put a field on the page, so you can just put a url in it and hit a button. But this should be easy enough for now.

Also when you copy stuff from some pages, if you see paragraphs without <p> tags around them, or similar such things. You will need to add them in your translation (or it won't look right) ...but also let us know, and I will try to fix that page's original content.

Again, all you need to do to translate a page, is create a new post. Find the page you want to translate. Copy that pages uri. Go to this special page, and add ?permalink=(paste the uri you copied here -- sans any odd stuff on the end). Then hit enter, and it should bring up the html for the page you want to translate. To be sure, you can click on the link created, and make sure it goes to the page you want. Then you just need to copy all the text in the textbox into the new post you've setup in your WordPress user interface. Then just replace the wordy parts with your translated words, and change your post's status to "Pending Review", and you're good.

edited: Also this will only work for pages that can be translated. For special page, eg. the one we're discussing, I've prevented their content from being displayed. They cannot be translated by normal means anyway.

I know all these words make it sound complicated, but it's really as simple as can be. I just want to make everything perfectly clear. At any rate...

Any questions?!

Fortunately it wasn't so difficult to change your bbs account login. But it will reset your password (you should receive the new password by mail)

I will email you if we don't hear back from you after a couple days.

edited: Don't forget to fix your name in the subject of this thread btw wink

Wow VMee! Good work translating everything so immediately smokin

You know we really appreciate it. And I hope our Italian readers and new comers will too rainbow

For the rest of the stuff you have not translated. We usually translate everything literally, except for company names, and products. Those we leave alone. Products does not include titles btw. Those we translate in a way that is a little more complicated to explain. Basically we try to translate as much as possible, but leave some words that don't go over well in phonetic Japanese.

You should feel free to translate everything in localization page that doesn't obviously look like a Company/Product name. I can fix anything that should be left alone (you don't have to know Italian to do that)

Thanks again! cool

Again, we need an Italian title.

I setup an Italian language icon, but I have reservations about it. I will try to come up with something better, but not being Italian I'm not sure what is appropriate. Just using vertical green/white/red bars looked very gangly and funny (it even looked much taller than the other icons even though it wasn't)

So for now I just stuck the Italian "coat of arms" (according to Wikipedia) over a Italian flag like background sweatdrop

It might look better with the flag turned sideways, but I'm not sure if that would be insulting (plus if there gets to be too many flags, they'll probably overlap one another, and then it might not always be clear it is an Italian flag)

Anyway, if you have any icon ideas, please enlighten us~
386  Be Your True Mind / Find Your Voice / Re: NEWS: We have to find an English editor fast or else!! Translators also welcome… on: March 12, 2009, 06:06:46 PM
well, for me is just easier to check your messages while i check other emails.....anyway, the forum will be okay:)
You should be able to have the PM ("My Messages") system send alerts to your email. You can also "watch" certain threads so that you'll get emails when the thread is active.
387  Be Your True Mind / Find Your Voice / Re: NEWS: Devil Survivor ready for North America come June on: March 12, 2009, 05:59:54 PM
I will put this up (and setup an Italian flag graphic asap) ...but in the meantime we also need a title translation. You can use the "Modify" button (or quick edit icon) to add it to your original forum post up top. Also feel free to put Italian translation in the first line of your forum post smokin

We usually translate the game names the same way we translate the Japanese game names. But we like to have the actual name in quotes somewhere near the top of the post.

So the Spanish title should be Sobreviviente del Diablo, and then when first mentioned in the body be "Megami Ibunroku Devil Survivor" (in quotes)

PS: I've corrected these for the Spanish translation smokin

^Well what I'm planning is just a page that will show the html source code for pages that can be translated. It might show some extra translation statistics as well, but not much else (well at least for now)

This way I won't ever have to try to explain to people how to copy the html code for a new translation page tongue

Just kidding... it really shouldn't be as tricky as it currently is.
389  Post Apocalyptic Hellscape / Tower of Babel / Re: Italian (Italiano) on: March 12, 2009, 04:45:35 PM
Ok, you can writeup posts for review (which will be useful for translating pages) and you have permission to work on this page (http://www.digitaldevildb.com/maintenance/locales/it/)

You're the only Italian translator for now, so you can feel free to translate as many items on that page as you like, then finally choose to compile the revision (you can do that as often as you like -- it doesn't matter)

After you hit a "compile revision" button, you'll be shown your revision, and when you hit the "commit" button, there will be a new Italian translation file for the website. Webpages are cached, so if you definitely want to see you changes on the website immediately, add ?nocache to the url in your browsers address bar (if there is already a ? in the url, use & instead on the end of the url you want)

I always recommend starting on this page first. It translates the website itself, more so than the articles. Some phrases are obviously higher priority. So if you only have time to do a little at a time, it's better to look for phrases that you see commonly around the website.

Feel free to ask any questions. And especially let me know if there is some reason something can't be translated naturally, and I'll fix that.

PS: I'm going to work on a special page to help translators translate pages, then I will say more about that. But it is actually very easy if you know something about html. You just need to find a page you'd like to translate, and copy the source code for that page (just the unique/non-generated content) into the new post which will serve as the translation.

Sorry, also just realized one of the Chinese temporary files did not have write access privileges doh

It should work now (in case you tried before and it didn't)
