406  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Nirvana / Re: quest to beat Demi Fiend/Hitoshura on: August 14, 2007, 12:52:04 PM
It just takes forever since you only really get to attack him every four or five rounds or so and you have to be paying attention to each move they use.  Also you have to pretty much Max out your stats to avoid instant death.  Conceivably I could go and do that right now, its just usually I get bored halfway through the battle or I fuck up and forget who used what the turn previous.  Also I've already beaten DDS2 so there really isn't much point to beating him for a bonus I'll never get.

Now I'm not talking favorite sub-franchise, I'm talking individual game, how or why it's your favorite, and anything else you can think of to throw in there.

Mine used to be Tsumi, but I find that Digital Devil Saga 2 was really my favorite.  The first one was great as well, but there was something about the second one that seemed to outshine the first.  The DDS system is just elegantly simple, the storyline is actually comprehensible (you have to admit, most of the Megaten games tend to go a little off the deep end), and the characters don't come off as total archetypes and have motivations outside of saving the world.

I'm also not a huge fan of the "collect-them-all" type mentality in other SMT titles.  Yes the demons are cool, but the hassle of trying to fuse the right ones together without a guide is fairly tedious, especially since that method seems to change drastically from game to game.  With DDS you didn't have to worry about it and you get to build characters which I think is more fun than ditching your nakama after they've outlived their usefulness.

Hey, good job!  One of these days I'll get around to it myself.:buh:

That last form does have a super Allmighty-based attack though, doesn't he?  I think he killed me the first time I fought him with that move, or maybe it was the one he has when his HP turns red...?  Sorry that's probably not very helpful.  Anyway, my advice is to just try to kill him as fast as possible and pay attention to when he uses that move that maxes his stats and minimizes yours.  I have no idea what that move was called in English, I have a hard enough time trying to remember what it was in Japanese even.

Wait, we're doing races now?

I'm some sort of white-bread mulatto male.  Let's just say I'm single for now.  That way there's a lot less 'splainin' to do, Lucy.

I never really understood the whole region encoding thing.  Someone needs to explain to me why that deters software pirates.  It sucks having to bust open your console systems and ruin warranties just to play import games, in lieu of shelling out beau coup dollars for import systems.

Thanks for the compliments, guys.  Most of that stuff is old oekaki doodlings.  Comics really take up most of my time right now.

Hitotsu Kurogami?

Yeah, I kinda wish I would've bought Maniax but the whole Dante-thing soured me on it.  All those Riders look great though, the one with all the eyeballs on his horse especially.

For REAL? corkysm17 You think piping in a entirely separate audio track in a completely different language is less extreme than just subtitling?  The way that most people defend dubbing so whole-heartedly makes it a lot less surprising that everything that comes out of Japan now seems to be butchered in the audio department.

In any case, I don't really feel like arguing.  I've accepted that fact that as a fan I've lost to an overwhelming tide of retards.  I can't and won't watched dubbed anything (well, I have a dubbed copy of La Cage Au Folles but it was a freaking dollar for a VHS copy).
416  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Megaten Hell / Re: My AnimeIowa Haul on: August 12, 2007, 12:40:29 PM
I went to AnimeIowa nolaff back in like 1997... God, I can't believe that was ten years ago.

Shiva and Vishnu have some hilarious attack noises...

I used Surt a lot as well, but I down-fused him so he would be immune to ice (in fact, he absorbs it I believe...).

Um, I don't really have a favorite though.  The whole thing I like about SMT games is the hundreds of demons you can fuse or convince to join you.

Hey, as long as we're posting our art...

I do a lot of comics also in my free time.  I'm working on several one-pagers that tell stories from my life except all the characters are cartoon monsters from various mythologies and I try to tell the stories without mentioning anyone by name, including myself.
419  Be Your True Mind / Find Your Voice / Re: First 42 Minutes of Persona 3 on: August 08, 2007, 12:59:14 AM
It just seems so cheap to me...  I mean the game takes place in Japan, right?  So why would they be speaking English?  You have to read the dialog anyway, it's an RPG for chrissakes.  Is it asking too much to not have to hear the same 20 or so Canadians dub over everything?  It's just so lame.
420  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Nirvana / Re: Wow these games are expensive to buy :( on: August 06, 2007, 06:57:56 PM
Yeah, Lycanthroat, I think you win in terms of who over payed the most.

I'm beginning to think I really lucked out.  I won't lie though, it's a refreshing change of pace from the cartridge/early CD console days when I was shelling out hundreds of dollars for import Super Famicom and PSX games.
