512  Be Your True Mind / Digital Millennium / Re: DS or PSP on: August 30, 2005, 10:05:55 AM
I have a DS, but I've played a PSP plenty of times because my brother has one. It largely just came down to me having the money when the DS came out and not having it when the PSP came out.

I have no use for the PSP's other functions. I have a great MP3 player already and I'd fill up any Memory Stick I could afford in a second (not to mention the battery life would be an issue). I'm not concerned with viewing photos either.

Game wise, it just depends. The PSP has probably around six games I'd say I would be really interested in having (Lumines, Hot Shots Golf, Wipeout Pure, Ridge Racers, etc), so I don't think it's lacking in already released stuff. However, it's pretty clear that there's not much of interest coming out for it in the US for quite some time. It's been in a very long lull and according to literally every website and magazine I've read that has to do with games, it had an insanely disappointing E3 showing as well. That's compared to the DS which apparently had a very strong showing... much to my surprise.

Nintendo has had some issues with "great" games as of late, I agree. However, I can't say that issue has really carried over to the handheld format quite as badly (well, aside from something like Mario Pinball, which was outside developed). I have about six games on my DS that I really enjoy and there's actually a few more out now I'd like to get (Advance Wars DS for one) and several others coming out this year that I'm interested in.

So, like with anything, it's really just what's coming out that catches your attention. I'm sure I'll be buying a PSP someday, but as of right now I'm very happy with the DS. I don't really feel a need to compare them in a "versus" format because, in many ways, I feel they're doing different things.

For me personally, the main draw for the PSP is the emulation possibilities(although strangely the SNES emulator for DS apparently works better right now; not that I have the proper cart stuff to use it lol). The NES apparently works great already and the others are getting better as time goes on. PSP firmware updates are an issue, but they're always gotten around eventually.

I heard the second one was bad, very bad. Compared to the first one anyways, but people have different opinions about games.

That's kind of funny since I think the first one is already terrible! doh

That's me though lol.

I really love the look of the characters in this game. It really screams out the time period.

I had seen the scans elsewhere (and now they're already posted here lol), but since I don't know anything aside from English (and some Latin) none of these really ever are of much use to me. I'm glad there's people here who can tell me what the hell is written on there lol.

That's why you won't see me around here anymore.  GS is the place to be.

GS is a place for general, dorky things. This is a gaming forum. I'm not attempting to recreate GS because it would be a waste of by space and bandwidth. Why would I need two forums that are the same and subject to the same nonsensical posts? You don't have to keep telling me how rigid this place is and how it "isn't for you" to prove something to me. No one is forcing you to post here.

I'm certainly not trying to be mean, but come on. This is the last I really want to hear about it.

This really isn't the place for random attempts at poetry and vagueness lol.
517  Post Apocalyptic Hellscape / Karma Palace / Re: Time Problem? on: August 28, 2005, 11:29:43 AM
It's off by me as well. Unfortunately, I'm not really sure what to do by it because it bases itself off of the server's time... which I have no control over.

Edit: As of my last visit here at 4:50 PM Central, time seems correct again. I guess it was something on my host's end that they quickly rectified.

Yeah, I suppose I should be more clear: 180x100 is the desired size, but it's also the maximum size lol.
519  Be Your True Mind / Digital Millennium / Re: Any other games? on: August 27, 2005, 09:51:01 AM
I've never understood girls' fascination with Bloom. He's a decent actor (nothing amazing, however), but he looks slightly rat-ish in my opinion...

As for Kingdom Hearts 2... meh. They'd have to fix so many fundamental problems I have with the original before I'd be tricked into getting the sequel. I'm a huge Disney fan and not even that could force me to put up with that game and its poor usage of the franchises.
520  Be Your True Mind / Digital Millennium / Re: Current? on: August 26, 2005, 01:39:19 PM
Hmm... Let's see.

Games: Killer7 for GameCube, largely. I've not put a lot of time into games recently thanks to school, but this is the main one I've been playing.

Aside from that I recently grabbed a few super cheap Xbox games like Fable, Midtown Madness 3 and Sphinx and The Cursed Mummy.

Movies: Last night I finally got to see Sin City, which I really enjoyed. Before that we watched Cursed (the unrated version) and Constantine... which unfortunately doesn't compare to the comics, but I didn't think it was terrible.

Music: I have a back catalog built up that I've really not even had time to listen to. Lately I've just been playing random Local H and Rolling Stones albums.

Is there any real need to have Heat around or is just some optional thing for people who might miss him? I don't know that I'll care much unless I'll be missing out on some story segments or something.

I'm wondering, is that game just about rolling up random things you find on Earth or is there more to the gameplay and story than that? So far, I heard love-hate things about the first one. D:

You're the Prince of All Cosmos. Your dad, King of All Cosmos, got drunk one day and broke all the stars in the sky in his stupor. Your job is to roll things up so he can send them into the sky and form new stars and constellations. That's the bulk of the story element.

Basically, yeah, you roll around and pick things up. There's strategy to it, though. You need to have a large enough Katamari to pick up bigger things, but being bigger means you'll be locked out of smaller areas. It's give and take. There's also levels where you can to collect as many as you can of a certain item or find something specific.

The first one is cheap. You're not going to lose out on much by trying it out. I think it's an interesting concept and I found it to be a lot of fun, particularly when you get to the later stages. The soundtrack is amazing. Unfortunately, the game is rather short, but for $20 I could have done a lot worse.
523  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Summoners' Club / Re: Devil Summoner on: August 25, 2005, 10:23:50 AM
What I'm liking most about the game is really the art style in general. It's obviously using at least part of the engine in Nocturne and DDS, but the different texturing approach radically changes the feel of the game. It's going to be strange seeing some of these demons looking a bit more realistic.

I saw video of it awhile back and it certainly looks fast paced and entertaining. Hopefully it'll turn out well.

I'm also very eager for the release of DDS2, almost nearing the end of DDS1's first play through. Though I'm probably going to go through a 2nd one and try to beat Demi Fiend, I still can't wait for it :(.

Have you already finished off all the other optional bosses?

If I remember correctly, X-Play gave SMT:N a five out of five (a rare thing, indeed) and said it was the best RPG of 2005(4?), and I whole heartily agree with it. There are so many great things in this game that you won't find in a standard RPG, it's what makes this game so great.

Yeah, they did. The only other RPG they've given that score to (at least since I last saw) was Knights of the Old Republic. I can't say I really care for the show all that much, but it's nice to see it get a good review.

It's been a long time since I've played this game, relatively speaking. Since then I've finished several other titles and gone through DDS, so my memories of Nocturne are rather blurred.

I have to start playing through it again so I can get its section on D3 going... maps, demonary and whatever else.
