This reminds me of this old thing on America's Most Wanted or some such nonsense.

It was about this Gynecologist who would have sex with women while he was examining them. I guess between them having their legs up and not being able to see him and the general idea of things moving around down there they didn't realize what was going on until later.

I can't say I have first hand experience with that stuff (not being a girl and all), but I have to wonder how the two feel anything alike. ...And did he finish in like three minutes? How long should all of that have taken.

It's weird that some people are that outright strange and desperate.

EDIT: I just checked, and yes, the cover is reversable.

Weird, I didn't even consider that... they've done that a few times. Not that I've even looked at the box aside from taking the disc out.

I've been keeping up on this too. It sounds pretty fun and that's all that really matters to me.

Someone should have Capcom make an Evil Dead game already.
484  Be Your True Mind / Digital Millennium / Re: Final Fantasy V-VI GBA on: October 05, 2005, 02:23:08 PM
Playstation got simple ports of the titles, largely. VI was entirely the same as it was on the SNES, aside from an opening movie and some extra content that was completely separate from the game. Same for V, although it was translated since it never came out here before.

The only major changes were for FFIV because the US version was edited and had scenes removed. The Playstation version has all of that intact and has a new translation (although they kept in "spoony bard").

So, no, they were never really "remade". The implication of Gpara on these two titles as well as word on the GBA version of FFIV makes it seem as though the titles will have a good amount of extra content and such... kind of like FF1&2 on GBA, which were based upon the Wonderswan Color (and later, Playstation) remakes but had a whole bunch of other stuff added on to them (like that massive extra dungeon world thing).

Looking forward to III and IV, at least. I don't care about V and VI so much, myself.

I just got my copy in from FedEx. Gamestop didn't include the CD as they said they would... it's even on my shipping list. I e-mailed the site. I guess I'll see what happens.

The game's boxart is different than I expected... it's the image of all the demons in the city that was shown on Atlus's site as the soundtrack cover. Color booklet :D

Looking forward to playing it later when I have time.

I'd like to replace my old Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, as the disc isn't in that good a condition and the manual is all chewed up (that way when I bought it). But, I can't afford $50. I checked that site out, and they're pretty bad when it comes to prices. $40 for a Xena game?

Yeah, don't ask me about some of it... They have a lot of games listed as normally priced at $60 and their great special price being $50. The games are $50 everywhere lol.

Either way, there's not an alternative to this right now aside from eBay and such. Gamestop, I believe, has used copies instock for $30 if someone wants to take that route.
487  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Velvet Room / New Copies of Persona 2 Released on: October 03, 2005, 12:24:23 PM
I saw this in a few places but haven't gotten around to posting it yet. Gamequestdirect.com has wound up with new, sealed copies of Persona 2 and Rhapsody. Rhapsody quickly sold out, but Persona 2 is still available.

Atlus doesn't seem to be very forthcoming with information on how all of this happened. Some people seem to think it was a reprinting, some seem to think an old box of the games was found... who really knows.

If you're interested, here's the link: http://www.gamequestdirect.com/730865520190.html

It's $50 and the place is reputable. I know a few who have dealt with them before.

This also means that prices for the title have dropped rather substantially on eBay if you want to try that route out. I've also seen some new copies on there for as little as $30.

I think some places were supposed to be giving it at stores here when you pre-ordered, but most of them seem to be waiting till you pick it up. Mine should come in the mail with the game.

Although I'm sure it won't be the full soundtrack... unless Argilla is referring to something else entirely.

As I said in the original post, 180x100 pixels is the desired size. You can do smaller ones, but that's the size I'm going for.
490  Be Your True Mind / Digital Millennium / Re: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children on: October 01, 2005, 06:50:50 PM
I've not seen it yet, but am I the only one that didn't really care that Aerith (I guess this is what we all call her now, but I'm used to "Aeris" lol) died at all? You spend such little time with her and while she's important to the story in many ways, I can't exactly say I got attached to her.

Now, if Tifa died, I might be a little sad.

There are 22 titles present I believe. Forgotten Worlds, Son Son, 1942, 1943 Kai, Final Fight, SF II & II Turbo, Section Z, Legendary Wings, Trojan, Bionic Commando are just a few of the titles -- I heard the PSP version will have Side Arms and Strider as a bonus.

That makes the PSP version very interesting to me. Hope it's true.

My only complaint with the collection is that Bionic Commando is that horrid arcade version. The NES version is so much better.

Speaking of collections, I'm looking forward to that Taito one that's coming out here (via Sega, I think). The recently announced Hudson ones should be awesome too, assuming they come out here. I'd like that Adventure Island collection, myself.

Anyway... Listening, I've been playing a mix. Mostly YMCK, which is this really fun jazz inspired Japanese 8-Bit band. Normally I don't listen to Japanese music or 8-Bit music extensively, but this just is amazingly good.

Playing, Dragon Quest 8 demo (finished it last night, plan on trying the battle mode today) and a bit of Metal Arms: Glitch in the System. That game is brutal at times.

US Adjustments? Such as?

Also, does it still use that obnoxious "Menu Interface", where you've got to go through a menu to talk to someone or to search something?

No, it doesn't, it's been removed for the US version as one of the "modernizations", I believe. X is the action button and it takes care of all of that stuff... talking, opening, etc.

Here's some of the adjustments offhand:
  • Voice-overs. In major cutscenes, the characters (aside from you) all talk. They've been done in a slightly British style, I guess in an attempt to fit in with the fantasy setting. Most of them are pretty well done.
  • Menu and text alterations. Aside from what I already mentioned, they've been changed from the "nostalgic" black and white to something more presentable. In addition to this, images of each item have been added to item screens and such, which makes the game look far more polished.
  • When the main character is charged up through the Psyche command, he now gives off this weird Super Saiyan look ala Dragon Ball Z (just in appearance, no abilities). His hair gets all big, basically. In Japan he kept on his bandana.
  • Sound effects have been modernized. In Japan most of these sounded just like they were playing off a NES/Famicom. Here they sound quite a bit nicer, but still are based on the originals.
Aside from that this is the first time the translation has attempted to be literal with spell and monster names. Babbles are now the more correct "bubble slime", for example.

All in all, I think they've done a good job in an attempt to interest more people here. I've noticed that people's biggest problem with the older titles was the completely first person viewpoint battles... but that's been changed as well. When you pick from the commands, it's in first person, but the actual battle moves are animated in third person. Looks nice.

The game is also really damn gorgeous, too. That will help lol.

Heh, didn't know you'd be able to re-new it -- I thought once those damn Search Site Directory-things get their hands on a domain you can't get it back. >_>;

Yeah, when I saw that instead of a "no site configured here" or something else, I almost had a small heart attack. The site is so based around that domain that I would have had a hard time figuring something else out. I lucked out I guess.

Once Christmas comes and goes I plan on putting a bit aside for this place.

Phew. :buh:
494  Be Your True Mind / Digital Millennium / Re: Free Dragon Quest VIII Demo on: October 01, 2005, 12:52:33 PM
A friend sent me the demo a bit early and I finished it last night. Personally I loved it and I think some of the US adjustments will turn on some new players, but it's also very rooted in Dragon Quest style in some ways. Still, it's modernized enough that I do expect it to do rather well. I had a great time with what I played and it did last a good three hours or so.

The full game also comes packed with a playable FFXII demo, which will probably help its sales in the beginning lol... but I care more about DQ8, myself.

Meh, it's not like anyone would really care to know the DDS voice actors. They kind of did a... Shitty job. To say the least.

I have to disagree with that. After they gain their emotions back, the voices were very well done, I felt. Sure, I don't know that it's up to like the quality of an excellent film, but it's certainly up there with some of the better game voice overs I've heard.
