The story also seems to have that distinct oriental flavour to it.

What was in the demo was very heavily based on Japanese mythology... it was pretty interesting. I'm sure what's in the full game will be far more developed, but what was there was certainly enough for a title of this type.

It bothers me that they're prepared to milk the game before it even hits store shelves. They know fans are going to buy anything with those words on it and in a way I think it's kind of sad on both sides of the fence.

I have extremely little interest in this game. I've been excited for XII for a while now, thanks to who was involved. However, the fact that the people in charge of a long line of FF games I couldn't care less about are back in charge for XIII really kind of just killed my potential interest right away.

It is nice to see the main character is a female, though.

I can look through the art books I have when I have the time. Might be a couple of days, but I will do it. :D

I've seen it on a couple places as Plover, so I figured I'd bring it up lol. It sounds awful, honestly.

I saw this was getting pretty "average" reviews, so I was somewhat hesitant to buy it. Yet, I remembered that despite scores, I tend to enjoy whatever Atlus bothers to publish in the US. I figured this would be no exception, so I picked it up (along with Metal Saga). Personally, I've not been disappointed.

Basically, it involves a guy named Vanilla and his adventures within a country that uses vehicles known as Trotmobiles. They're basically simplified mechs that can take on a variety of tasks: battle, farming, digging, travel, etc. You can read about it pretty much anywhere and get the idea.

What I've liked about the game is that I feel like I can do what I want, when I want. The main mission is not dangled over your head to the point that it's overwhelming, but at the same time it's always nearby enough that you can do it as you please. Most of my time is spent pretty much doing whatever, though.

Buying and developing parts for your Trotmobile to go new places and do new things is surprisingly entertaining. I have a good time finding good places to trade items to get the most money to buy all sorts of things such as new outfits (which show up in-game, unlike most titles), gifts for potential girlfriends, new instruments, etc. There's a few dungeons in the title you can make your way through for rare treasures as well.

The game puts a lot of emphasis on music. Vanilla can travel around with a band and play alongside them if he wishes. There's a variety of instruments, all of which are controlled in different, interesting ways. I particularly like playing the trumpet... I find the accordian to be especially troublesome.

Anyway, did anyone else pick this up?

There was actually a demo of this in OPM one month. A lot of people seemed to miss that. It seems to be timed though... I know it just suddenly ended for me.

It's an interesting game, based on what I played. Being able to use a brush to create things within the game is a very novel concept that I'm surprised hasn't come up more often before. It definitely benefits from the art style in many ways.

Something small that I enjoyed was that when you run around things grow behind you. The faster you run, the more wild and pretty the plants and such are. It's a cool little touch.

I'll probably be renting it, but I'm not so sure I'll plop the $40 to $50 down. It really depends on how long it is.

Is there any reference to what Gin is carrying in that suitcase? I assume more bombs or something.

And as for the girl, are people in general agreeing upon the name Chidori or Plover? Personally, I prefer the former.

Also, it would seem that that game store is directly responsible for the reprint... not so much Atlus USA itself. Beyond that, reworking a PlayStation game to work properly in PAL territories is apparently not remotely easy.

I suppose the best thing to do would be get the game and run it on a PC emulator (which works remarkably well with Persona 2 on a decent computer).

Thanks for joining. Post a lot and maybe other people will again too, finally lol. Glad to see people here from all over the place and not just in North America.

Although Persona:Revelations and Persona:Eternal Punishment weren't released on PAL, I'm trying hard to get them (no sign of Persona 2 but the original is going on ebay for about £50...which is a lot) but whatever the case, I'm very interested in Persona 3. The story sounds interesting, and it would be nice to play an RPG set in modern Japan - the only game that has ever done that is Lucifer's Call, and it was totally refreshing!

Are you looking strictly at the UK eBay? Most US sellers for games I come across are willing to ship worldwide. Persona 2 was fairly common there for a while after that re-printing happened. Maybe it's not anymore though... I've not checked in quite a while.

Hopefully Atlus will work with some company to get a PAL release of the title. I was glad to see Nocturne and DDS came out there, although DDS2 seems to be getting pushed back constantly.

These pop up on eBay pretty often as well. They ones on there are opened generally, but only so they can check to make sure they're sending you a complete set. You get the original boxes, so it's no big loss. Sometimes you'll see individual ones as well, which is nice because I rarely have interest in the full set.

Also, this is somewhat interesting. Its talking about the preorder bonus, which will be a digital media cd. It will include, among other things, some wallpapers, a screensaver, the opening theme song (Burn My Dread. OH ENGRISH), and voice clips... the interesting part is that the last voice actor is listed as "Secret Character" ... what this means is unclear. It could just be that this voice actor is for a character that has yet to be revealed, or it may actually be a secret, optional character. That voice actor was also responsible for the voice acting of the main character in Persona 1's Drama CD, for what its worth.

Yeah, I came across all of that earlier thanks to blog.yam.com/dds. I never do anything with the voice clips on CDs I get, but I wouldn't mind the wallpapers. I think the page said there was like 16 of them... but that's just from my memory.
403  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Tokyo 202X / Re: New SMT on PS3 on: June 12, 2006, 08:53:49 AM
Considering we've heard nothing about it since September 2005, I'm cannot get very excited. I'm slightly concerned for a company in Atlus's position as to developing for what is apparently such an expensive platform (development wise moreso than consumer wise). I suppose their involvement with Konami now will lessen that potential issue, though.

I originally found the scans on Jeux-France, as usual... but looking at them I only see stuff about Aegis. Who is this Muffler character?

Also, is there some way to get these delivered elsewhere? I guess I could try eBay or something, but I'd like to be able to do my own clearer scans honestly.
405  Be Your True Mind / Digital Millennium / Re: And now... on: June 08, 2006, 11:10:56 AM
What sort of game is this anyway? For some reason I'm assuming it's one of those weird board games involving multiple series characters.
