361  Post Apocalyptic Hellscape / Karma Palace / Time Problem? on: August 27, 2005, 09:44:57 PM
edit: That probably wasn't very clear -- the minutes on the time are off by around 10-15 minutes. No clue why this is. It seemed to have happened sometime this morning, when I noticed it had set the time back by an hour (or so?). The time displayed was fine before this morning, though.
362  Be Your True Mind / Digital Millennium / DS or PSP on: August 27, 2005, 09:31:42 PM
I've noticed a lot of people have been buying a DS or PSP lately -- anyone here own either one of these, or are thinking about buying one of them? What are your thoughts on them? Which one do you want, or seems more appealing?

For me, I'm more interested in PSP -- it just seems more appealing -- a lot of extra features that kind of make it seem a lot more worthwhile. Both handhelds, from what I've seen, are really lacking when it comes to games, and I haven't really read of any future releases that seem to be worthwhile. DS has that Stylus, which honestly feels like it'd be more of an annoyance -- something I'd rather not bother with. DS is going to have that RE1 remake, but I've read a bit about it, and, as per usual, it seems like it'll be a lot more annoying than it's actually worth.

So, yeah, ultimately, I'd go with the PSP. It just seems that Sony has served me a lot better than Nintendo ever has, and thus, I'm more inclined to trust Sony. Though, if I could, I'd probably buy both, just for the hell of it. Though, as I said, both really seem to be lacking games, so, I'm not sure if either would be worth it. At least, not now, but maybe in the future (early to mid- next year, possibly.)

Why does this scare me?
The internet being yet again full of rabid hardcore FFVII fans complaining about this. D:
You'd probably do the same if something DDS related was delayed, huh? (liek omgz i went there!11) ^_~. It's not hard to avoid the complaining, though -- just don't hang out anywhere near FFVII fans. I avoid them like the plague.

(I really don't feel like quoting everything else, so...)

Regarding the Spirits Within: I didn't hate it -- I watched it like, 4 times when my father bought it on DVD. So, obviously I didn't hate it. I didn't like it -- but really, I don't like much of anything. I don't think I'd watch it again. But, hell -- it's got Steve Buscemi. That guy is awesome.

Now, regarding why Square shouldn't remake FFVII: Because FFVII sucked. Granted, it wasn't as bad as games like Final Fantasy X, or Final Fantasy X-2, and it certainly did have one of the best OSTs in the series, but it wasn't a good game. Kind of what pisses me off about the game was that Nomura did the designs rather than Amano -- Amano's designs were what really gave the games their fantasy aspect. Regardless, I couldn't care less if they remade it. I'd probably play it, but eh. I guess it WOULD be good to be able to play the game without getting a headache from the horrible graphics (yes, I agree - they sucked). A better translation would be nice, too. This guy are sick.

Quote
Why go through playing the same exact thing when they can give us something else?
Because everything else they've given us lately has sucked. I mean, really, really sucked. Sure, Square has given us some bad games in the past -- but none as bad as the likes of FFX and FFX-2.

Narumi would look awesome if he lost that stupid hat. Kind of looks like a fancy Spooky or something. Not that you care.

Edit: And I think Tae looks a LOT more feminine than Sera. A better design, overall, as I couldn't stand Sera's design. (Though, everyone knows that. I hate Sera.)

Quasar Wut-Wut: March of the Zug and Stiletto. And occasionally "In Mind" by Luna Sea. I hate Japanese music, but I thing the guitar intro is awesome.

Not playing any games, though. I'll be watching Serpant of the Rainbow, though.

369  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Megaten Hell / Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Tokyo Revelation on: August 26, 2005, 12:49:49 AM
I had originally wrote up a reply detailing why I didn't like it, but I never wound up posting it and closed the browser, so... I'll just say: It sucks. I'm not a fan of Anime -- I watch it very sparingly, but, I found the movie to be very lacking, and was made only for an excuse to have that orgy scene.

For anyone who would have to make a choice between watching this, or the old Megami Tensei anime movie, I'd say go with the Megami Tensei anime movie. It was far more interesting, though, that doesn't really mean it was very good. I find it highly disappointing that such cool games can spawn such horrid movies -- but they're games meant to be experienced, not watched, I guess.

Hello I'm Naomi! I have only played DDS. I love DDS! Okay I'm being quiet now.

I bet you're not from France, either, huh?.

Well at every other message board I've been on/am with, my User Name's just been Zidargh. So I needed a change.

Oh. I thought it was some kind of new fad word or something. >_>;

And within the context of this thread, neither are you.

But on topic, it's good to see people are interested in the majority of Atlus' series. As I live in England, I doubt I'm going to see the games off shore before you do so this means I get a better idea of whether to get 'em or not.

How so? You're the one who said "rather than having 'Zidargh' everywhere.", which made no sense to me. Explain.

I like Tokyo Millenium myself and I'll probably be going with that.

Just thought I'd mention you misspelled "millennium" on Tokyo Millennium, heh.

I take reviews quite differently than they were (probably) intended. I normally don't really look at the complaints and things like that. I just look at how they describe the game itself, then I think to myself whether I would like that or not. Like, that statement up there, I'd have probably thought of that as at least a slight plus, because I'd be thinking, "Well, I like DDS, and they say this is similar, so I'll like this." As another example, a lot of reviews had complaints about Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter's system of doing things. I didn't take those as minuses, though, as I thought "Hey, I'd actually like a game that does that."

The bottom line: A good review describes the game rather than either praising or complaining about it.

A good review is no review.

Hello, I chose to go about a more deeper approach to this forum rather than having 'Zidargh' everywhere.

You're not making any sense.
