Fighting him is one thing but actually finding him without faqs... O_o Honestly, I've been searching for secret bosses everywhere in the first cycle, getting my party on 99 lv with almost every mantra mastered and that's why I didn't bother with the second one! You can imagine how shocked I was when some random guy from my school told me that he read about Hito in DDS 1. o_O
I just hate this kind of mentality in game designing - "Hey, let us make the greatest boss almost impossible to find, it's gonna' be awsome!" X_x Um, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you CAN'T fight Hito during your first play-through. You have to be on your "Extra" cycle for him to appear. Don't worry though, you get to keep all your Mantra (I tried to buy them all before the end of my first playthrough as opposed to mastering them all which you can also do) and it only took me about 10-15 hours of game time to get to the end on the second time through. He's in the Brutish base, a hallway or so down from the first Great Karma Terminal in a little side room in that basement. After beating all the other extra-bosses of course.

I don't know why they didn't just wait and release the games bundled together but...
I paid a grand total of 40 or so dollars for both games imported. Two (Japanese region) cost me $18.50 from Play-Asia, it was like $20 for the first one and this was shortly before and after their American releases, respectively.
I've seen a few American copies here and there and generally they are somewhat expensive, but it's comparable to any role-playing game really. I guess it's not really that strange that console RPGs, as a generally unpopular genre, are more expensive than other console games.

I'd offer to help translate but I don't even have a working ps1 memory card, let alone the time to do some serious translation work. To be honest though I don't really understand the whole Oracle of Maiya thing. For as much work as they've put into that they can't have had more than like five people who actually went through the trouble of playing it in Japanese with a printed out translation (what a giant waste of paper!) from their page. It'd probably be more prudent to beat a section of the game and then go back and read the script if you really really really wanted to complete it. If I remember right though the kanji in that game isn't too obscure although the typeface utterly sucks and garbles a lot of the 10-15+ stroke characters.

Wow, Imagine actually looks fairly decent...? When I was checking out screens about a year ago it looked like total crap, what with the primary color camos and the terribly rendered demons.

I don't really remember what I named my character... I know his nickname was "DAVID" in all caps and English characters. I don't remember what I put for surname but I usually pick "康介" (Kousuke) or "令治" (Reiji) when I play RPGs in Japanese. Kousuke was my name in Japanese class in highschool, Reiji in college.

Hopefully this community will be different, but I have to be honest, you contributed a lot of ridiculous crap (I couldn't stand your threads with YA/Buttqueen/whatever), and I am not looking forward to you here if you post in the same manner -- that idiotic junk is the reason I have no interest in that place. I sometimes have found Heat's act irritating in the past, but he has been far from trolling here. I can't recall many threads I posted in with Audrey but I guess they left a lasting impression...? Even then I just thought what she had to post was usually pretty funny, especially since everyone seemed to take her so seriously. The crowd there though was/is generally a pretty antisocial bunch. I just remember posting a lot of music and manga related stuff, maybe a few projects I was working on at the time, and getting in a lot of pointless arguments with some needlessly condescending characters.

Now that I think about it, aside from the SMT/Devil Summoner/DDS games all the console RPGs I like are pretty old. Haven't seen much in the genre that really strikes my fancy. I guess Odin Sphere looks okay but I really don't care much for that kind of character design.

Take a Japanese course at your local community college! Sure you may not be fluent but you'll get the gist. Hell, I took four years of the shit and I still can't read half of it. The only reason why most people even go through the trouble to translate stuff for free is to practice their Japanese in the first place (though not the case for Gemini I suppose, although its the same deal only practicing programming skills).
Sometimes I feel like I'm LeVar Burton on Reading Rainbow... but don't take my word for it.

And you're a twat, which is why the majority of the members on the Haven didn't like you.
Actually I was received more or less ambivalently and even did a few manga translations for Brand... and anyway it doesn't upset me much to be disliked by a few teenagers. Banning michael and letting Rent be mod was a little much perhaps, so I left. Maybe this community will be different, but seeing as this place is also completely trolled by you (and your hatred for all things that you don't directly relate to) I'm beginning to doubt it. Well... Back to ignoring you now.

Heat just has terminal PMS despite the curious lack of any other feminine qualities. Whatever happened to my penis post on the Haven, by the way? I never checked back on that.
Anyway, Hay, look at me: a new board member. Don't know how offen I'll be stopping by though to be honest.
