Title: DDS1 - Jap to Eng Changes
Post by: Eldrin on October 29, 2005, 10:08:18 PM
Is there a FAQ with the name changes of the Skills from the Japaneese to the English versions of the game?  I am trying to use the FAQs listed on the site but I can't figure out how to get certain Mantras because I cannot figure out what the English name is.

Thanks in advance for the help!

All I know is:
Jap -> Eng

Blaze -> Fire
Calamity -> Earth
Impact -> Force
Freeze -> Ice
All Purpose -> Almighty
Element(Physical)+Destroyer -> Null Element(Phys)
BS Destoryer -> Null Ailment

Does that help?

Here are a couple more:

Magic Seal Destroyer -> Null Mute
Master Canceller -> Null Attack
Artic Realm -> Cocytus
Meshiaraizer -> Salvation
World's End -> Ragnarok
Randomizer -> Debilitate

Is there any major reason why any of these were changed? I assume just so they could be easily decided between in menus on the fly... It's easier to remember what Null Attack does as opposed to Master Canceller. In my opinion, anyway.

Master Canceller and Meshiaraizer are kinda obvious, because they are just too different.  Espeically Meshiaraizer.

There is that, but there is also space constraints to worry about. When each skill name has a six or eight character limit it kind of limits what you can use.(it's not quite as bad as it was in the NES days, when you had names like Blt2 or Hrm... :buh: )
