I bought the original when it came out. I put quite a bit of time into it, but it's one of those games that I couldn't possibly invest enough into to really finish it. There's just far too much going on and I like to do every thing I can possibly manage to do in one playthrough lol.

I'm not usually into Strategy RPGs of that sort, but I did enjoy the game. The situation was fun and the translation was solid. I've never bothered with the other titles related to it (Pucelle, etc), but I figure I'll go back to Disagea again at some point.

Well... I haven't played it lately, but Disgaea's one of my favorite games ever.

Really looking forwards to Disgaea 2... from what I've heard, it's just as good as the original.

Over here, Disgaea isn't that rare (lot's of people bought, thought "WTF?!" and took it back to the shop). I quite liked it, but I levelled up to 100 and then just got so very tired of CONSTANTLY levelling up.

I'll prolly get Disgaea 2 though - I loved it's wacky charm. I hope it's not toned down like Atelier Iris 2 was.

Yeah, Disgaea was a fun game. the only problem I have with it (and all of N1's SRPGs, for that matter) is an over-reliance on levels and statistics instead of sound strategy and tactics.

I'm still going to get Disgaea 2 when it comes out.

I pretty much feel the same.  I purchased the first day it was released. Played it for 30-40 hours, and started to loathe it.  It is waaaay too easy and kind of bland on many levels in my eyes.  I did like the character design I guess.

Disgaea is a rather good game, but I also own La Puccelle Tactics and Phantom Brave, and I consider PB to be much better. I wasn't a fan of PB's story, mind you, but I loved the gameplay, it was the only game of the three that I've actually beaten.

On the other end, I loved Disgaea's characters and story. I miss playing the game, actually. I'm probably going to play it again after typing this, haha. I just hate how it looks on my LCD TV. Ugh.

I hated Phantom Brave with a passion, the difficulty was so uneven, and a tactical RPG with no grid? What a disaster. La Pucelle was awesome though

I agree about the difficulty, but I much liked the gridless battles. It was a good change from other SRPG's which always feel the same.

I didn't like La Pucelle very much because of the actual battling scenes when you attack enemies. It kind of broke up the action too much and seemed out of place.

Yeah, La Pucelle could be pretty slow going, but i still think it was more solid of a game than Phantom Brave. i suppose each has its Pro's and Con's
