Now that you mention the amala drums, it would be nice if you could travel between each drum. Sometimes I really don't feel like walking from Third Home all the way to Shunjuku.

Another question for you guys. There's three purple icons you can use.

I figured out that the one with the arrow between a demon and a person lets you switch controls between the two.

However, there's also one with a Jack Frost within a triangle and one with a Jack Frost with a spark in front of him. When I try using those, I just hear "woosh" noises. What do they do...?

Also, I put up the other two parts of the guide. I tried to thank people where it was applicable. I wasn't sure where to link to, so I linked to your profiles here. If there's something else you'd rather the link went to just let me know, it's not a big deal.

There's probably mistakes and other things in there, so if you notice anything just let me know and I'll update it. Thanks :)

Tony, I'm not sure what the purple icons do, but the ones below it I know two of them(third group under the Command Tab.) The second icon, "Party Icon," with a bunch of people, is to add someone to your party. You click that icon, then click who you want to join. The next one, the "Buddy Icon," two people holding hands, is to add someone to your buddy list. Use it the same way as the party icon. Additionally, the same icons under the Comm menu bring you to the party and buddy lists.

Also, under the System Icon, that second icon, IIRC, brings you back to your character selection screen. I'll double check as soon as I'm done updating.

Got something else. Under the settings menu, the very last two options where you have two choices each lets you; 1 - remove shadows(top option for shadows, bottom for no shadows), and 2 - take away that sort of dream-like haziness the game has. Clicking the bottom option makes everything crystal clear. Disabling both of these will help the game run faster.

The icon with the guys arms in the air appears to be a call for help button.

I don't know if anyones mentioned this, but I've read pages 3-end and I haven't seen it come up, so I'd just like to throw in along with home point res and instant res (or floor start res in the case of dungeons) when you die, the other option gives you the same icon as a dead demon, which I assume means other people can use res items on you. (which could be a good use for the help icon, if that is what it is.)

As for the bullet icon, it says uncertain in the guide right now, I would assume its reload, for if you buy more then one set of bullets. I've never tried this, but it makes sense.

Cool, thanks. I'll see if I can verify that bullet idea you had. Unfortunately, taking all the time to write that up, I've not gotten to even mess around in the game as much as I would have liked to lol.

In my experience,  if you keep using a gun the character will reload it himself...  but perhaps that would be useful if you want to be more prepared with guns with larger magazines. The one I have apparently only holds one bullet at a time lol.

Yeah, I made some quick mentions of that. I called that haziness the light halo effect, but I don't know what it's really considered. I probably should make that section more clear? lol

Honestly, I'm kind of amazed by how intensive this game is. There really doesn't seem to be THAT much going on, but it runs kind of slow even with a lot of the effects off for me. I really can't believe the minimum requirements are what they are.

The first group affects basic actions. They're listed from left to right. (This is under 'Self Actions')

1 - Sit or stand, the icon will change accordingly
2 - Autorun; when enabled your character will run in the direction he or she is facing until you press a different direction
3 - Enable/Disable click to move
4 - (I think this translates into 'Access' from 'akusesu'. Also, the description says it begins conversation with a target, however it's unusable under normal conditions so I am not sure what it does yet.)
5 - Call for help* (The description says this is basically an SOS command. I think this is usable in battle.)
6 - Reload* (Tops up your equipped bullet stack to 99 if you have extra in your inventory.)

The second group has to do with demons. (This translates into 'Partner Commands'.)

1 - Demon attack order*
2 - Demon hold position order*

3 - Control switch. This lets you switch controls between your character and your summoned demon. Upon clicking this, the camera will shift accordingly. This way you can make the demon go to specific places or enact specific commands.

(Switching between demon and PC can also be done with TAB. That's what I use since I do not have to allocate an action bar slot to the function this way.)

The third group affects your group status. (The heading translates into 'Communication' from 'komyunikeeshon'.)

1 - Trade*
2 - Party invite*
3 - Add friend*
4 - Blacklist* (This one seems unusable at the moment, but I think it is the squelch function.)

Third shop option is repair.

Second system option is log out to character screen. I suppose this is somewhat useless at the moment since we only have one character.

The exact level you start losing exp upon death is 10. The Japanese players refer to this is 'Death Points'.

And about that quest list I mentioned... it seems that quests are restricted to the newbie training quest you guys know about. I cannot seem to find any others in the towns are visit. I suppose this is because the game is still in beta. Will keep eyes open.

That's all for now. Next up we should start doing the learnable skills.

PS: This has got to be the best way to learn a language.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I'll work that into the guide later on tonight and hopefully get to mess around in the game more. My guy is only level 3... lol

One thing I'd like to add to it: where do you get those dungeon plates?

I wish I did understand the language. I have nothing to really start from, so playing this game isn't exactly helpful in that... although I find myself recognizing certain words over and over, which is a start. It's a shame, since I've had some players help me, I'd :) at them and they'd say something back, but I have no clue what it was. You can manage the menu system by trial and error, but the actual real people interaction is much more difficult.

I really should buy a book or something.

You should start by learning hiragana and katakana in that order. I find it quite favourable that a language like Japanese has an alphabet(Two at that) as it is highly useful in tackling kanji; unique characters that do are not constructed, but recalled word for word. Chinese only has hanji; thousands upon thousands of unique characters. Bitch to learn.
http://www.matsu-kaze.net/ <---- online learning resources
http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/cgi-bin/wwwjdic.cgi <--- Online kanji lookup

My rare convos are also mostly restricted to emotes as well. I do have a tip though; use the bow emote often; bowing is an integral part of Japanese culture.

Dungeon plates are dropped by certain demons. I am quite sure puss in boots drops them periodically. You can also buy them from the shopkeeper at the start of the dungeon. Convenient.

You know, looking back I just completely read that section wrong and didn't even realize the setting menu had tabs. Two days with only three hours of sleep...

Just wanted to mention that I'm playing the game too. I'm at Lv.4 and I have a Lv.4 Pixie and a Lv.3 Kodama with me. Tony and I played it a little together today, and that was pretty cool. I also have a friend who has taken three Japanese courses in college, she's been a pretty good help so far, but she made it clear that you know much more that her, Oblivious.

My name is 小銃で休み in the game, said friend translated it from Rifles at Recess, but apparently it lost its plurality. Whatev. But yeah, we should get organized and all try to find eachother in the game. :)

You can find me under eLZhi, always in channel4.

We should go through Suginami Makai Koudou one night. It nets you some good EXP and I pretty much breeze through it at this point.

Is that that dungeon to the south?

Also, how did you put in English characters? I could never seem to get that to work for my player name.

roflao, I am afraid to say my Japanese has been somewhat overestimated. Most of the translations I make are derived from the IME pad and then plugged into http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/cgi-bin/wwwjdic.cgi

I just completed the second year of my basic japanese course, but seriously, anyone can do that with a rudimentary knowledge of Japanese. I do recognise a few kanji since I have a background in Chinese, but the advantage is minimal.

Anyways, currently I'll be starting to save money for starting a klan to link up the english speaking community, though it will be a long time before that since it does cost a fair penny at 80k macca. We could start deciding on a name until then...

Hey, you helped where no one else was really able to, so I think that's worth a big thanks lol. :buh:

And yeah, that's a LOT of money. That'll take some time. There's also some French players at RPG-Z... I know at least a few of them know English, so I'm sure they'd be willing to help out. Last I saw, they seemed to be pretty far in it.

Does anyone know if there's any word on when this beta even ends?
