Bulimic witches would be fun.

The Shin Megami Tensei series as a whole aren't that big over here. I mean. c'mon, Lucifer's Call (the PAL Nocturne). I mean, the "True" Ending is obvious anyway and no one batted an eyelid.

The Evoker thing is a very awesome stylistic choice and it will indeed be more interesting than just yelling "Persona" again and again. Chris in Revelations sounds like a 60-a-day smoker when he yells it (made me giggle).

I agree - if all Penny Arcade can come up with is that parody then Persona 3 will hopefully be immense. I've heard it's playtime is 80 to 105 hours as well.

Can't wait!

You lucky sod. I went to the UK AnimeExpo and all I got saw was bloody Bleach and Naruto (ugh, two of the most over-reated animes EVER) and Final Fantasy. I went for the inevitable and bought -

A Death Note

A FF3 Red Mage and Dragoon

The Three Brothers (FFAC) phonechains

Ichigo's Bankai (phonechain) (hey, it looked cool and I liked the series at the time)

My boyfriend bought me a little Naga Raga and Lucifer (MegaTen) for Xmas though, bless him. He's buying me Persona 3 too (kekekekeke).

It would have been the first Final Fantasy with a strong female lead. (FFX2 did have a female cast, but they were pretty silly to me.)

A proper FF with a lead female? Are you mad?!

I don't understand why SE don't have a FF (an actual one) with a female character. It's not like they'd get criticised for it (one would hope) so why not? It's obvious the story is about Ashe - after all, Vaan wanted to be a pirate and hated the empire, not to restore the throne.

If the story was seen through Vaan's eyes, then it was a pretty poor narrative. I don't ever remember hear Vaan saying (a la Tidus) his thoughts on the journey. All I remember are those bits where Ashe was looking at ruined Nabudis with Vaan skulking up behind her (which were never explained). And what was with those aliens? The ones near the end? What the flaming hell was that all bout?

I liked times of old where each FF was a self contained  story and  you could enjoy each game on its individual merits.

That sentence actually made me a little sad. This is one thing the FFs have always been famous for, and they're even changing that?

RIP

I'd never play it on a PS2. Don't get me wrong, but Innocent Life is a long investment game - I like the play-it-when-I-feel-like-it-wherever-I-go aspect of the game. For me, it's perfect on PSP. Plus the nice screen on the PSP is my better than my rubbish TV.

I haven't played the game yet but the reviews for it seem rosy. If you're interested in what's exactly "in" the game, here's a good review for you to read -

I personally am itching to get my little paws on it. News of a European release aren't apparent but getting PSP games from overseas nowadays is incredibly easy. The character designs look awesome -

- and the story seems quite heartwarming in an Innocent Life kinda way. I'm looking forward to playing this game.

I dunno. Remember Drakengard? The Bouncer?
All a bit....naff.

I wonder, but many other popular RPGs - Star Ocean 3 and Shadow Hearts Covenant - had "Director's Cuts". Star Ocean in its original form was never released in Europe, but the Director's Cut was (the one with Mirage as a playable character). However, Covenant was released over here in its original form and the Director's Cut was never released outside of Japan.

I would think that if Atlus are 100% releasing the original game outside of Japan, it'll prolly stay that way. Atlus, I don't think, can afford to re-release a game in any territory outside of Japan.

That would be awesome. The English guy would slap enemies with his glove and the French guy would kill them with ihs awful stench.

It would be funny, but SE have never really been able to laugh at themselves. I remember the story in FFTA being incredibly full of itself.
71  Be Your True Mind / Digital Millennium / Re: DS or PSP on: August 08, 2007, 09:15:33 PM
There's no way I could afford the two latest handhelds. The PSP retails at £150 and the DS at £100. I am NOT spending near £300 on bloody handhelds. For me, it was either one or the other and the PSP is what interested me most as a RPG player. My PSP has never broken and never stalled even though I've dropped it twice (it has a slight crack on the bottom of the faceplate, but naught else).

Although I have heard of games/consoles having problems in America and Japan, but when they are released in Europe there's not really any problems. I think the PS2 and original X-Box had issues but the DS and PSP didn't. Over here, neither one is doing better than the other (I think).

There's two people - both second years - on my course that own a PSP and a DS. One likes the DS for all the manga/anime fight em ups (the Shonen Jump one with Light, Ichigo etc) whilst he plays the PSP purely for Monster Hunter. There's something of a huge Monster Hunter thing going on there, with about 20 people - combined from all the years - playing it because of the multi-player aspect (myself included - I've racked up 600 hours on the damn thing). Think of it as Warcraft on PSP.

Asking them which one is better is a little pointless - obviously they like both because they spent the money on them. They prolly just play them for different reasons - PSP for RPGs (he plays Profile) and multiplayer and the DS for the Japanese games (he imports them and he can read Japanese, I believe).

This is true, only because developers seem to be a bit more daring with ds titles.

Good point, but some people mix up "original" with "extremely Japanese". It irritates me when people think that because it's Japanese it's super-special-awesome. Also, some games that have come over from Japan seem bizarre. There's one DS game - a waitress one where you have to deliver food or something (why would I want to play that?) - that seems alien to me. This is because the DS is huge huge huge in Japan and thus most games are going to be catered for the Japanese.

Eh, why not.

19 and a Virgo.

And just adding - Female.

Bah. He reminds of Sydney's friend from Vagrant Story. John something? I can't remember - haven't played that game is so long and I lost my save file. I had the Damascan cross sword and everything :(

I didn't mind Vossler (better than bloody Larsa) but I don't understand how he would join your group. It would make sense if he joined a while into the game for redemption or something. One thing the new features don't fix though - the complete pointlessness of Penelo's existence v

Are you in Europe?

Look at my Location v

Hmm. What will the Europeans get then? A French mime? A guy with an English accent who likes tea?

SE, you spoil us.
