151  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Velvet Room / Questions on the earlier Personas on: August 03, 2007, 07:50:21 PM
So, with the upcoming release of Persona 3, I was wondering how the other Persona games are. I have been searching which next SMT titles I can get, and I found Persona 1 and 2 to be the easiest to get next. I doubt I'll be able to find SMT 1 and 2, unless I'm just not looking in the right spots. So, how are Persona 1 and 2?

And is the plot very close between the two installments of Persona 2. Or does the fact that one wasn't released in America hinder the one that was released here?

Whatever, I'm not really that troubled about it. Though Hard Mode was interesting in SMT: N. I never played a SMT game before and just jumped in on hard. Got my ass kicked numerous times.

Either it sucks cause normal mode is easy, or it's good because normal is so hard they had to make an easy mode. Either way, you don't really know it sucks until you've played.

I can understand why you'd call DDS and DS average, but I still enjoyed those a good amount. I think that DDS was an excellent take on the more traditional rpg, and I greatly prefer it to all the other more traditional rpgs on the system. That said, I can understand why an SMT fan can find DDS to be lacking.

After playing DDS 1, I can say without hesitation that I enjoyed it a great deal. This is one of the few games, that I'm willing to play again right after I beat it (I'm at the end, just doing sidequests), that and I want the bonuses in DDS2. I liked Nocturne at about the same level as DDS1.

You got me really excited tony, thanks for the info.

So I guess you have to buy another copy=/, unless you're fine with the glitchesXD

Well, considering I played and beat this game a month ago. I have no recollection of what you're talking about at all. That sounds pretty weird, as the SH games have had pretty good polishing. You probably got some bad copy, cause I seriously did not see this at all. I didn't find a single glaring glitch in the game, and the ones you described seem pretty serious.

Also, believe it or not, the game only uses 65kb to save.

Wow. I like when game files are small, can't believe how much space I have left now. I have to keep transferring to my other card and soon those two will be full. First time that'll happen to me. Plus, this hybrid between RPG and Sim sounds really interesting to me, I can't believe I actually want August to come. Though I won't be doing much buying for a while:P.

Yeah, with what I'm seeing, I think I'll go and get it.

You're right, I've never seen any SMTs at Blockbuster before. Even if Best Buy gets it, it'll probably be a small amount, so I'm going with Gamestop. Although I really wanted to try Persona 1 and 2 first and see how those were.

I love how 1 is going for 100 dollars on ebay:P.

I personally lost a lot of trust for reviews. I'm going to rent it (If I can) and try it for myself.

That's what I've come to learn, in the past 2 years, after trying games out myself and finding out I like them more than some horrible score they gave it.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I am even more confused on some of your earlier statements. I assumed you had at least played some SMT titles. As for me, I have played well over half of the titles in the SMT universe.

I think I did say somewhere earlier that DDS would be my second experiance of SMT. But, whatever, just forget it. Let's not get more confused than we already are with the weird inputs I had.

Thanks for the answer. When I first saw DDS, on IGN, they said that DDS wasn't new, and it was released earlier. Guess they were confused with the names too, as now they are clearly wrong.

You already apologized:

Even though I still have no idea who you are, cause I just joined. But you seem....interesting, with what you're saying.

No, they weren't - I'm sure it's Digital Devil Monogatari: Megami Tensei, the very first Megaten game that was based on three novels by Aya Nishitani, that you had in mind ("monogatari" can be translated as story or saga).

Ah, ok. Thanks:)

I'm curious, how many SMT titles have you played? (SB and Kakizaki) Since Nocturne and the DDS games are going to be my first SMT experiance, I'll most likely hold a fondness to them and like them more than, say for example, SMT 2, if I play it after DDS. Most likely giving me a different view of the game than you would have. Unless I just flat out don't like DDS, which I doubt I will. But, From what I'm seeing in videos of DDS has really gotten me geared to play it. And right now, I don't have the cash to go after any previous SMT games to see how this series evolved.

By the way, I read somewhere that the DDS games were released earlier on different systems, the NES I believe. Can someone enlighten me more about this. Was that statement true? And how good were those games compared to the current DDS? (If the statement is true, and you've played it.)
