16  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Velvet Room / Re: What's in a title? I challenge you to a Nerd-off... on: November 05, 2008, 05:43:30 PM
Yeah, "Innocent Sin," and "Eternal Punishment," are part of the official Japanese titles.

Migrating the pages isn't too spectacularly difficult, but it can be a bit confusing.  I probably won't get around to making a tutorial today, but definitely sometime this week.

I'm really disappointed in it. The character designs are so aggressively generic. Like, the girl with the Pocky? Why would you do that to us Atlus? Why? WHY?

Product placement.  I bet weeaboo fanboys are creaming their jeans right about now...  rolleyes
18  Post Apocalyptic Hellscape / The Underground / Re: STICKY: Article Suggestions! on: November 02, 2008, 02:20:43 PM
Friends, Romans, DDDB community!  Lend us your writing skills!

We are in dire need of more articles!  Our main games page is missing quite a lot of information regarding the games themselves which is why we need talented, motivated, and (most importantly) experienced individuals such as yourselves to help us fill in the blanks.

If you aren't already a contributor feel free to contact any of the moderators or site admin and we'll get you started down that process.  In the meantime, if you have anything you'd like to submit to the Games page, feel free to post your preliminary article as a new topic HERE, with "GAME ARTICLE: (game title goes here)" as the topic title.

The articles themselves need not be anything fancy.  All they really need to contain are:

1- a paragraph for plot set-up (not a summary - just a who's who, basically an introduction to the storyline),
2- a paragraph which describes a run down of the gameplay,
3- and a paragraph describing any other miscellaneous information that you think needs to be included.

A couple of screenshots probably wouldn't hurt either.

Below is a list of games that we need articles for.  At this point it's really up to the author to decide which game to write an article for, but as we get more submissions we'll have to whittle it down.  We'll do what we can to expidite the editing process and have your article on the Games page as soon as we can.

Well, you've got series games, which have direct/notso direct sequels (sequentially numbered titles anyway), and non-series games, which are the one-off, stand alone games.  We're already listing them more or less by this system so I don't think that's an issue anyway.  Listing them by platform would be unnecessarily confusing; I'm just presenting an alternate structure to Tony's straight-up list.

As far as it being confusing, I think that's because I only put it in text.  Imagine an actual table with a drop down menu at the bottom.  It saves space and itemizes everything, replacing the need for Tony's text blurb at the top of the page.  With the drop down menu, visitors can directly select the specific game they want, rather than being taken to the broader series description page first.

The recently released table adds clarity as well, so visitors can just pick the game they want.

The upcoming release table is more for us so we know when to add new articles, however, I think it's also important to note that it provides release information for games which may or may not have been added to the database.

The last two tables could probably be set right next to each other and instead of letters used to represent the country of release we could use little flags.

This is why I propose we need a DDDB photobucket/flickr/any free image hosting dump account.

I dunno, this is pretty cool (did I miss this part of the youtube vid??)

Apparently there are multiple routes you can take to get through the game, I'm guessing this probably affects Izanami's appearance and/or additional forms and endings.

Too bad the animation is so terrible...

...and that Kumo character's voice...  crying

That is kind of neat actually.  So, one piece to Soejima's credit anyway.

The Persona 3 Page, which it says is by me...

Is there anyway we can change this on the migrated posts?  I don't want to appear as if I'm taking credit for someone else's work.  There's the cw Tony thing at the bottom, but it still says the page is written by me, which it clearly isn't.
24  Post Apocalyptic Hellscape / The Underground / Re: Time to get up and move! on: November 01, 2008, 01:56:03 PM
Proposed alternate organizational system for the games page:

Series
Devil ChildrenDevil SummonerDigital Devil Saga
Last BibleMajin TenseiMegami Tensei
Non-series*Persona
Maybe a drop-down menu could be added to select a game by title, listed alphabetically.

Then, a list of the most recently released games, the date of their release, plus the country/region it was recently released in.  eg:

Recently Released
Devil Summoner Kuzunoha Raidou vs. King Abaddon PlusOct. 2008J
Devil Summoner Kuzunoha Raidou vs. King AbaddonOct. 2008J
Persona 4Jul. 2008J
etcetera...

Then a list of upcoming and projected titles, basically so we have a place to put stuff like Devil Survivor and proposed titles official blurbs re: working titles like SMTIV and such.

*Subject to change

Google Reader is showing the Persona 3 Page for some reason.

You'll have to excuse me, I've never used/understood the purpose of RSS feeds.  sweatdrop

I dunno, the PS1 version of "If..." is insanely fast.  You even walk through corridors at near mach speeds.

With the Super Famicom era SMTs it seemed like it was all about the Luck stat.  Higher luck meant an easier time escaping from battle, better contact results, cheaper items in stores, it's a clear choice.  It makes you more reliant on your nakama but the positive always outweighed the negative, like your lower attack and defensive stats.
29  MEGAMI TENSEI™ Uncensored / Tokyo 202X / Re: Giten Megaten 1996 Impressions on: October 30, 2008, 07:21:30 PM
You could even turn this post even into the main Giten info page if you wanted to.  biggrin
30  Post Apocalyptic Hellscape / The Underground / Re: SPLIT: Potpourri is the devil and other offtopic classics on: October 30, 2008, 12:42:50 AM
Um, it's clearly describing the content of that web-page, not defining 'potpourri.'  sweatdrop  Their use of 'potpourri' is appropriate as it is describing a mish-mash of articles pertaining to the Civil War.  Their webmaster calls the page 'potpourri' because it describes the content, not the articles themselves.

Jack Bros. and SMT Pinball and whatever else that was going to go in that section are not 'potpourri.'  They are classifiable, alike, and are (ostensibly) Megaten.
