I think he's still alive because at the end of Eternal Punishment you can see an event where all the protagonist from MIP are waiting and talking in Parabellum, and they began to gather one by one, and they seem to be waiting for "someone", and when the door opens, Ellen and Maki says: "Welcome back", which I think they're referring to the MC but the camera doesn't let you see him. So that's why I think he's not dead or anything like it :P
