Title: More ads...
Post by: yksehtniycul on November 01, 2008, 04:12:20 PM
I'm thinking the empty area beside the avatar at the top of the forums might as well be filled up with ads. It would also no longer be collapsible.

Does anyone have a problem with this? The space isn't be used anyhow.

PS: I figure I should also put Jose's ads backup on the front page at least. It's been too long without them...

Jose's ads are kinda back. I guess we'll just do them this way until I actually look into the whole AdSense process myself.

Obviously I've been doing a lot with ads lately. As it happens we got two clicks on our ads yesterday which earned the website 0.54 dollars. Apparently our view to click ratio is pretty good if that keeps up. We've had nearly 268 unique viewings of our ads so far. So 2/268 equals more than a quarter per ad click which isn't bad at all

At any rate, the website can't encourage visitors to click on ads, and just to be safe, I won't encourage visitors in the forums either. But as soon as possible when I get home I'll register a business at the courthouse and try to setup the Google AdSense account as a business. That should make it possible to automatically publish our earnings on the internet, though I'm not positive about that.

In the meantime I'll just report statistics in this thread about once a week....

26820.75%$2.03$0.54

It seems if you make an account here:

http://www.google.com/analytics/

You can have access to information about the website (after we add your account to our tracking list)

I'm not positive at this time about what all information the reports will include. I'll edit this post once I have a better idea...

Ok, here is the all time ad revenue report so far.... wait for it...

Page impressionsClicksPage CTRPage eCPMEarnings
30,714730.24%$0.61$18.87

I would've posted updates more often, but clicks tend to just trickle in now and then so far...

On the bright side the ads are bringing in enough to cover the cost of hosting the website. We could do a lot better though...

If we ever accrue enough for a years worth of hosting we can think about moving the website to it's own shared host.

Jose's ads will remain up in the Archives. Please help Jose out by paying mind to his Ads whenever you're down there...

First time I've been able to check it for a while...

AdSense for Content
Page impressionsClicksPage CTRPage eCPMEarnings

I'm sure some of this clicking was of my doing while I was away from home. Technically I'm not supposed to... but hell I'm a consumer too :ninja: ooo(Last time I checked??)

Remember, we seriously need your support! So please try to keep one eye on our ads, and by all means, if you see something interesting, don't hesitate to click at it (the ads only pay out per click)

After reaching our primary goal of 100$ (required before Google pays out) ...we will have emergency funds in case the site ever goes down. So I can pay to lease a new server for a year. I might also consider leasing a new server anyway, so we might get more features (and I will have more control over things) and won't be bumming anymore :smug:

I still need to find out who should own the digitaldevildb.com domain name... the administrator should of course, but I don't atm.

As me an Emilio do most of the work around here, he can also use any new server for his personal projects if he'd like to (and I could use a public host myself for private matters) in return for his continued support of, and enthusiasm for the website... without which nothing would be possible -- seriously.

Anyway, that is likely how the first 100$ will be spent. Please help support DDDB's continued existence on the world wide interweb~

Sounds good!  But can you give an example of what can I do with a server?

Well with a server you can for instance make yourself a website (that you have full control over)

I just use them to share private stuff with people and host random files.

Not much clickin' the last few days :sweatdrop:

edited: I'm surprised that our daily visits never seem to drop below about 600. I wonder how that could be??? Unless that is the average number of visits from webcrawlers per day

Surely those don't count as visitors (the official ones at lest)

600  It would be cool if my blog have that kind of traffic.

^Actually that is the pageview statistic... the visits are actually a little less than half that.

If no one patronizes our ads, or even contributes to the community/website... it's not too helpful though. Hopefully people are at least being informed

AdSense for Content
Page impressionsClicksPage CTRPage eCPMEarnings
80,9192470.31%$0.65$52.38
AdSense for Search
QueriesClicksPage CTRPage eCPMEarnings
56320.36%$0.41$0.23

Come on people... this won't cut it :frown:

The click rates could be better, but the per click payouts have been low lately. Could just be a side effect of the economy, or bad luck. But anyway... obviously these numbers are hardly even worth reporting. 10$ per month is pretty much our average. 10$ a day should be our goal if this site ever gets turned around

The ads are only up 2$ since last report. No one is checking out the ads anymore. Please be mindful of our ads, it is the easiest way to support the website, and anyone can do it... if the ads can't earn at least 100$ a year, there is always the chance of the website going down.

AdSense for Content
Page impressionsClicksPage CTRPage eCPMEarnings
97,0732840.29%$0.58$56.13
AdSense for Search
QueriesClicksPage CTRPage eCPMEarnings
66920.30%$0.35$0.23

There are 37 new clicks here for less than 4$. That averages less than 11 cents per click sense the last report I posted. I don't know if readers have stopped clicking (err hum showing interest in the ads) completely or if the value of the clicks has plummeted because of the US economy bullshit. But either way if this doesn't start looking better, if the website went down I wouldn't even have the funds to bring it back up without paying out of my own pocket, which I'm not very inclined to do. So please, let's all try to click more to support the website. Even if it just averages a dime.

On the other hand, if anyone thinks it would help, I'll setup a Paypal direct donation sytem or something~

PS: Remember that more mainstream appearing ads tend to generater more revenue than the more niche ones.

According to Google there wasn't a single ad click for the last week (7 days)

Today, 2.34$ so far, and that is just from two simple little clicks

It's good to see shit like that can still happen. The maximum pay per click I've seen in a while has been not much more than 15 cents...

Anyway, it's been a while since I posted one of these, so:

AdSense for Search

6$ Yesterday... if every day was like we would have an annual budget of 2190$ and could literally pay contributors for articles, or spread the money out like royalties every quarter...

PS: I'm the account manager, so my clicks don't count.

PPS: It's really not hard to do 6$ a day. The site could do a lot better than that if everyone who read it really cared about it enough to give the ads a look now and then :crying:

The ads can be fairy interesting -- or better yet really amusing. Hell if only the more vocal transient community made a little effort we could a lot better than 6$ a day :sweatdrop:

Edited: Btw, I think the ads are becoming more valuable again, like before the whole economy scare hubbub...
