Title: Stella Deus
Post by: Emilio Morales on November 28, 2007, 10:28:00 AM
Have anyone played this game? It looks really cool but I don´t know if it´s worth buying it. I´ll leave some screenshots.

For my opinion. Awesome.

As opposed to Persona 3, Soejima actually did a good job with the art and character designs in Stella Deus. It also had a decent OST for something composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto and Masaharu Iwata.

The art and the music are the only good things about Stella Deus.

Wow cool! There is a character that looks a lot to Minato. So this games really looks awesome. I think I´ll buy it.

Any other who have played this game?

Well, yeah. I mean, it's a strategy RPG.

Yeah, I own Stella Deus- it's ok :-S Definitely not the best S-RPG... and it's really drawn out.

Cool thanks for your point of view traci!

I'd advise against getting Stella Deus. Like said above, the only slightly above average aspects, sadly, are the music and art. While the music might seem good initially, I began to realize that it was like Hitoshi Sakimoto was just composing Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story soundtracks 1.5. He doesn't diverge from his previous scores too much. I mean, it's good. It's just that you've heard it all before, giving you an even greater reason not to buy it, since the other aspects of the game aren't too spectacular. For instance, the battle system works, but it has nothing special to it, add onto that the difficulty level isn't too high. Basically, it's the most mediocre S-RPG I gave 15 hours of my life to before re-selling.

But that's just me.

Oh! Thanks for your opinion. I need to see more trailers of the game before buying it, cause now you make me wonder...

I mean if you really want to, take the plunge. I wasn't too impressed, but you could be. I got it for $19.99 used at Gamestop. You could probably get it for less on Ebay.

Disagreed. I despise Sakimoto, but his music in Stella Deus was definitely above average, and better than what he usually does. It's still in his usual style (which gets old fast), but at least it isn't as bland as his other work, which usually sounds like he's run out of ideas so he just kind of pounds on a keyboard for a few hours and hopes the result is something palatable enough to be accepted as music by the game director.

If it's only $20, then buy it.

I heard Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story's OST before Stella Deus'. (I know listening to the OSTs to those two before Stella Deus is obvious, but I only first played Vagrant Story about a year ago, and didn't like that game too much anyway) So that's why I took that and put it against Stella Deus' OST. I heard much repetition and I didn't really like Stella Deus' soundtrack anyway, it just didn't feel like it fit with the game, at least for me. Anyway, bottom line: I just flat out didn't like the game, and Emilio's buying the game, so have fun. Hope you don't feel like you wasted money later on like I did.

I found Vagrant Story a really good game, the OST as you say is not too good, but the game mechanics were awesome. But there are some awesome tracks on the game.

Hey Neao, do you finished Vagrant Story? Cause every time I played it, my brother or my uncle deleted my game data, I pass the game like 6 times and never get to the end. And I want to know if Sydney helps you in other battle like he do in the battle againts the shogun armor (can´t remember the name). That battle was awesome.

Nah, like Stella Deus, I stopped about 15 or so hours in because I felt like I had better games to play. I also resold it for more than I bought it for, so that's a plus.

That is the only battle where Sydney fights with you.

I bought this because the art caught my eye and ive got to say i have not been dissapointed so far. its a good game, and i have to say its good because levels actually mean something. When my hero went into a battle at one level he lost, but a level above and he kicked monster ass! i like it when levelling happens like that personally and not when 5 levels have to be raised before anything noticable happens. the art style in game is good and ive got to say its a very fun game. theres even a special dungeon you can go to to raise levels outside of storyline.

however, on the bad points, your levels dont raise strong enough just by playing the story battles. i went from my second battle, which was easy, straight to my third battle, which with my characters still at levels 2 and bellow, was nigh on impossible, and it didnt even tell me that i needed it before i got there. i had to try the level and die before i knew i needed it.

but all in all its a good addictive game.
