I remember when the game was first announced and they were like,"this game will appeal to all rpg fans, on both sides of the pacific. On one hand there's a the girly, animu, emo character for the Japanese of our native country; and for the Americans we have a huge muscular, and extremely boring looking character. I'm sure everyone will enjoy it because you can pick who you want to be." It was kinda insulting that they actually think every rpg fan in America wants to play as a generic muscular goofball. I would rather play as a normal person than either of those two character types. As it stands, it doesn't seem particularly interesting... but I did see a quote where they said they don't want this to be viewed as a FF spin-off (obviously not content wise, but in terms of general approach), which I appreciate if nothing else.

I could have sworn I read somewhere that the campaign was just sort of split and that'd you'd HAVE to as both as you progress the story.
