Title: Persona 3 Review copy
Post by: ShinByakki on July 25, 2007, 01:04:41 PM
I wanted to ask you a few questions Tony, regarding the review copy of Persona 3.

>Is there a default name for the main character ?

>Easy and normal only available ?

>Have you gotten Aigis in your party yet ? If so, in the equipment shop, is the clerk selling some new equipment costing 300.00 Yen ?

>Can you tell how many quests are available from Elizabeth ?

And of course the most important thing, is the game coming nicely along, localization alright, voice overs ?

Thanks for any replies. :mickey:

Well, I've only had a it a few days. Put maybe a few hours in at this point.

There is no default name for the main character. You give him a first and last name.

You can choose between Easy and Normal from the outset. You cannot change this without restarting.

No Aigis yet. No quests from Elizabeth yet.

As far as the other stuff goes, it's pretty typical. The translation is good, some decent use of slang, etc. A few of the characters sound a bit more awkward, but I think this is largely due to their personalities than any translation issues.

Voice-over wise, it's good. Some of them I was unsure of at first, but as the game progresses they seem to fit better and better. The only one I'm not really sure about still is Ikutsuki.

I actually have a video of the first 42 or so minutes of the game that I'm working on uploading, so watch out for that.

42 minutes of the game? Wow! I'm not even sure if I should watch that or not.

Thanks for the reply, looks like the game is pure jewel, if you manage to get Aigis tell me if the clerk is selling the new equipment.
I'm also looking forward watching the 42 minutes of the game.

I figured it might interest people due to the delay... Basically, it's from the first title screen all the way until the main character utilizes his first Persona. If you've actually been watching trailers and Japanese videos up until this point, you might recognize some of the scenes.

It's going up to Gamevideos.com, gametrailers.com and Google Video. I just have to wait until they're done compressing it... To make it actually small enough to distribute it's only 320x240, but it's still watchable. I have a full resolution one in DIVX, but it's way just too big to waste the bandwidth on (900 MBs or something crazy). I'm working on other smaller videos, however... Those will all be in DIVX too and usually seem to clock in at around 30 MBs. The site used to use WMVs, but I'm moving away from that since DIVX can be played on Windows, Linux and OS X.

Sure thing. I'm actually hoping to finish it before its new release date... At least for me, the delay was kind of a blessing. Before I couldn't really do much with it for the site prior to anyone else getting to play it lol.

Does P3 have a lot of fun factor? Of course in your opinion, what are the negative things of the game?

Looking in the strategy guide, it looks like there's 55 quests.

Those are Elizabeth's quests, Oni. I'd imagine the s link stuff could count as sidequests as well.

Well, personally I think it's incredibly addicting. It's been very fun so far, but I can't really say what every one else would think about it. Negatively, I honestly don't know. It's not perfect, but I'd have to really think about it. Sometimes I wish the various little school and social related things you could do were a bit deeper, but it's not a major issue.

I've honestly not even really minded the AI, which I thought would be my biggest complaint. As soon as a character sees an attack doesn't work, he/she says something about it and doesn't use it anymore. They make a point to use things that take advantage of weaknesses, etc. You also learn more tactics to give them as the game goes on.

The quests in the book are, from what I glanced at, just from Elizabeth. Obviously this ignores the main game and any social climbing, which I suppose could be considered a quest as well. There's not really any shortage of things to do.

Also, believe it or not, the game only uses 65kb to save.

Wow. I like when game files are small, can't believe how much space I have left now. I have to keep transferring to my other card and soon those two will be full. First time that'll happen to me. Plus, this hybrid between RPG and Sim sounds really interesting to me, I can't believe I actually want August to come. Though I won't be doing much buying for a while:P.
