Title: Doublejump books guide impressions
Post by: Himuro on July 23, 2007, 10:52:42 PM
I got the guide. Love it. It's smaller than the Nocturne guide, but it seems to have just as much info. I haven't looked at anything beyond the intro and section that goes over the Japanese school system.

I suggest everyone get the guide for the Japanese school system/culture section alone, because I'm sure it'll help out during the experience. It goes through all the holidays, rules, and Japanese terms in case you don't know what the fuck some character says in the game through moon speak.

Highly suggested. I like the feel of the paper a lot. Gives it a professional feeling in my opinion.

Great job as usual Double Jump.

Is there a lot of art in it? And is it really worth it? $20 is a little too high for a guide for me...

I'll probably get it either way.I did buy the guides for Nocturne and Devil Summoner, but not for DDS.Didn't think it was necessary at the time.

DDS didn't have a guide.

The guide has a lot of art in it, aero. And think of it this way, Nocturne's guide costs as much as the game online now. Even if you pay 20 bucks for it now, the resell value will likely triple in due time.

Most normal guides are like, what, $15? If it's anything like the Nocturne guide, the extra $5 will be worthwhile.

My bad...I did not know that, that's probably why I don't remember it.I was using GameFAQs at the time,so that's why I didn't even bother with the idea of looking for it.

And I have to agree,I think it is worth it...I mean,it's under 30 dollars, sounds about right to me.I would say....get it now,or regret it later.I had to find the Nocturne guide off ebay.I can't remember how much I paid for it,but it wasn't really that much.

After looking through the guide I have only one complaint: how come there's no section that goes over how to get specific Persona?

Since they've delayed the game, I've decided to pick up the guide to help me move through the entire game faster. Should I order online or go to a Gamestop/EB and pick one up?

Go to your eb/gs and see if they've got them in.

I usually buy my stuff at www.play-asia.com, but the guide is too expensive there... and the shipping at Amazon is highly priced... anyone has a suggestion? It has to be a place that send things to Brazil...

Yeah, maybe! I just don't know if it is reliable, but might worth a shot... thanks.

It doesn't even have, say, a Fusion guide? That's kind of weird.

It's got a fusion table. I just missed it. Plus, there's no need to have a guide on how to get specific Persona because the only way you get Persona outside of fusion is through shuffle at the end of battles.

I thought the game had a conversation system, hence the confusion. :(

Nah, no conversation system... which is kind of the biggest disappointment about the game. Although the social link system kind of makes up for it.

So the game does have a conversation system? This system is like the same as in other megaten titles, such as the "talk" command of the other games?

Nope, the game does not have a conversation system between you and the personas, but you can create friendships with certain people at school, if max out your relationship with that person, you can create more powerful personas in the Velvet Room.

Got my guide couple days ago. First DJB guide I've ever bought and I don't regret it!. For some reason, I was under the impression it wasn't going to be in color so I'm glad I turned out to be wrong. My only worry, is if the binding will hold.

My SMT:N one has held up very nicely, if that means anything to you. I'm assuming they're basically built the same way... but I don't have the guide yet. :read:

Thanks for joining the forum, by the way.

I got my P3 guide yesterday too.Yeah,my Nocturne one is still in decent condition.Atleast it's not like my really really old FF7 guide done by Versus...it has tape on the side just to keep it from falling apart. It's been around,to people's houses that's for sure.

I actually just got mine in the mail, although I don't plan on using it until my second time around. I actually like the size... I don't miss those ridiculously large, magazine sized strategy guides I used to have when I was younger. This manga-sized stuff is a lot better.

Looks pretty nice, although I kind of wish I got another mini-poster like with SMT:N.

I agree, the smaller ones won't get in the way when you're putting it away in your back pack.

Or you could hide the guide behind a text book and pretend you're reading it!Could never do that with those old guides.

Not that I've ever done it before...hehe.

The guide is a bit difficult to navigate, but has pretty much all the info you could ask for.

My biggest gripe is that it shows little thumbnail pictures of Shadows, but not Persona.

I got it, now I regret it, it's making me want to play the game even more now. :(

I hid my guide so as to not tempt me.

I'd get one whether I'd use it or not, for the sole sake of selling it for big bucks later. Which is why I bought 2 guides. ;)

I'd say get it. It's nice, it's manga sized. If you're having problems with a quest line, don't know the right option to pick or what a quick persona reference, it's nice to have instead of running to gamefaqs constantly. Only reason I'd not get is if money is kinda scarce for you or you're just one of those "No-guide" purists. Even then it's still pretty to look through =P
