Alright folks, I told you I hopefully had something very nice to share, and I do... for the first time anywhere, I've got for you not only the first sample pages from the artbook that'll be included with the U.S. release of Persona 3, as well as a few details on the included soundtrack, but also the very first look at the actual game cover, not just the cover for the overall special edition packaging.

They should have used this cover for the overall deluxe packaging cover, and the original Japanese one for the actual game box cover.

Well, they should have but we're still getting a great package. ;)

Man, that's just to cool! I guess since Persona 3 is coming out, many people are going to become fans of Megaten titles. And many other people are just waiting its release.

EDIT: Wait did I just saw a Fiend of the candelabra from Nocturne in one of the screenshots of Persona 3? Wow...

While thumbing through the guide I noticed quiet a few "special encounters" from past SMT and Persona entries are available as persona.

I'm kind of hoping to get my review copy of the game tomorrow, so maybe I can get some more stuff up here (video, screens, whatever). I, unfortunately, missed an e-mail from Atlus a while back that kind of pushed all of the dates back... but luckily they're still willing to help me out. I guess like 3 days ahead of launch is better than none lol.

How lucky you are, Tony!

The inside cover looks very nice, I was very surprised when I saw that scan, Atlus sure did pull something nice out of the front "Dance Dance Revolution" like cover.:tonguer:

I really like the alternate cover. I kind of prefer it over the the original.

Himuro! It's good to see you again. You have been missed. :(

I'm trying to get back into neogaf. I'm trying, okay?

I'm kind of done with neoGAF. The SMT threads are fun, but I really just haven't enjoyed the place for a long time aside from that. Might explain why I visit like 3 times a year now lol.

I actually got my review copy today. I still have the retail version on pre-order, though. I'd kind of like to have the box and all the extras, honestly. Review copies from Atlus are basically just silver discs with "do not sell" printed all over them.

Still, it's nice to be ahead of the game even by a little bit. I'm going to see about adding content today and tomorrow, since I'm sure most places won't even have it in stock until after the 24th.

That's cool, just 1 more day till it ships! I'm hoping my Gamestop gets their shipment in the afternoon, so I can pick it up in the evening and start playing right away.

Pre-Release
Ships 7/31/07

Argh, we have to wait one week just because of a stupid artbook that has the size of the palm of my hand.

This is just one of the worst things ever.

Well, on the flip side, if I'm getting some bonus items I don't want them to fall apart when I open them up. Another week or so won't kill anyone.

I guess I'm just upset because I haven't an interest in the artbook. It's cool now, though. Sigh.

Yeah, I mean, the artbook most probably has like 12 pages with character art that you can find in the internet just by googling it.
Oh well, gotta endure this.

Title: Re: First look at US version artbook, soundtrack, and cover
Post by: Emilio Morales on July 24, 2007, 04:56:21 PM
What? So the Artbook are just 12 pages? Man, how awful. I expect an artbook of 30 pages minimum.

Title: Re: First look at US version artbook, soundtrack, and cover
Post by: Himuro on July 24, 2007, 05:49:21 PM
He said probably. The artbook must be a decent weight, because Atlus said one of the reasons they had to delay was because shipping without the artbook meant that the packages would be too light, and thus, easily smashed. The artbook is supposedly so big that makes most of the weight of the game package. That must be a pretty big artbook.

Title: Re: First look at US version artbook, soundtrack, and cover
Post by: ShinByakki on July 24, 2007, 06:09:49 PM
3 Weeks of delay won't compensate it with the Art book and OST really, beacause you're simply going to flip the pages twice and never look at it again, so why 3 weeks to print an art book? Is it really that difficult...

Title: Re: First look at US version artbook, soundtrack, and cover
Post by: Emilio Morales on July 24, 2007, 06:20:46 PM
The best thing is that maybe they add some new pages, or something in apologize for those who buy the game. But I guess...Maybe not!!

Title: Re: First look at US version artbook, soundtrack, and cover
Post by: Himuro on July 24, 2007, 06:35:58 PM
They've already apologized in the press release. That's the only "sorry" we'll get.

Post by: ShinByakki on July 24, 2007, 06:49:26 PM
Yeah, this is really disappointing coming from Atlus, I was expecting the game to come fully packaged and ready to ship yesterday, and now we have to wait 3 weeks, well, I have to wait until September to play this...
Sigh.

Himuro, the book won't be big or heavy... by this "first look" we can see that it is probably the same size as the default game box, and it will have 52 pages.
I think we will be only disrespected by this "special edition", since the japanese art book has 200+ pages, and the japanese soundtrack has 50+ tracks (the packaged CD has only 18).
Oh man, I just wanna play the game...:irked:

Title: Re: First look at US version artbook, soundtrack, and cover
Post by: Himuro on July 24, 2007, 07:04:10 PM
if the artbook is the same size as the game box and has 52 pages, how will it NOT be heavy enough to be used as a weight?

Title: Re: First look at US version artbook, soundtrack, and cover
Post by: ShinByakki on July 24, 2007, 07:44:10 PM
Will an artbook that has 52 pages actually fit inside the Special Edition package ?

Title: Re: First look at US version artbook, soundtrack, and cover
Post by: rafanetz on July 24, 2007, 07:44:15 PM
I think 52 pages is pretty little weighed, but if we think about the weight of a ordinary game box, you might be right...
Anyway, it would be nice if the artbook was bigger and thicker.

Title: Re: First look at US version artbook, soundtrack, and cover
Post by: Himuro on July 24, 2007, 08:07:58 PM
It really would be, but oh well. How much does the 200 page artbook cost?

Title: Re: First look at US version artbook, soundtrack, and cover
Post by: rafanetz on July 24, 2007, 10:33:43 PM
It is very expensive, I think. Probably more than U$30, and is impossible to understand a word of it (japanese, you know).
So, getting a smaller version in the same package without paying more for it is ok.

Good stuff.

I, for one, am going to be optimistic about this. I am so damn tired of companies making mistakes with their products, then making no effort WHATSOEVER to fix them, treating the customers like cattle.

I've been looking very forward to the artbook and soundtrack...if three weeks wait is the cost of a higher quality product, so be it. The sheer fact that Atlus has the respect for it's customers to take the time and money to fix it's mistakes means they just earned even more trust from me.:king:

You also have to bear in mind that none of the Japanese special edition Persona 3 packages came with an art book or a soundtrack at all. They came with a CD containing a couple tracks and some wallpapers (and I have those wallpapers on the site now lol). These were additional purchases on top of a game that, by default, was even more expensive than it is here (forget about the special edition packages -- even the "bonus pack"-- since the pricing was insane).

52 pages is pretty decent, certainly as what's essentially a free pack-in. I sure won't  complain about it.

As for the other art books, I own Persona 3: Perfect Works which contains a lot of art, it's only 140 pages. A lot of it would kind of be superfluous to even most fans, honestly. Even that is pretty small in size, in terms of dimensions.
