Title: SMT if... and Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei on SFC translations
Post by: Matyu on March 30, 2007, 12:06:46 AM
Anyone would like to see translations of those two games? I'd like to do it but I'd need somebody to do the hacking and patching stuff so I can concentrate only on translation. Anyone is interested?

Didn't Gideon Zhi [if I recall correctly] decide not to do "if..." because of how difficult it would be to hack? Can't recall where I read him saying this, though. If it's as difficult as he says it is, I'm doubting there'd be many people up to the task of doing so.

I wouldn't mind seeing translations of either, though. I no longer ROM hack, so I can't provide any assistance.

I don't know much about rom hacking, but how would that game be more difficult than SMT1 and SMT2 to hack?

I wouldn't know. All I know, though, is that it's supposed to be difficult to hack. Otherwise, I imagine he would've already taken on the project.

Well, are there any other megami tentei works that are worthy to be translated?

Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei would be nice, particularly since they are (slowly) working on Megami Tensei for the NES. Really, though, there's not many noteworthy ROMs out there that are still worth translating beyond those (and Megami Tensei 2, I suppose)... There are some for 32bit systems, but translations for CD based games are rather rare.

Makes me wonder if there's been any major progress on that Persona 2: Innocent Sin patch.

I would be glad to help Gideon Zhi on Soul Hackers, but I'm pretty sure he wants to finish this project alone.

Well, if anyone is willing to put the time in hacking any megaten games or scanning megaten books, please let me know :mickey:

I was going to make this thread.

I would kill gladly to see a translation of Shin Megami Tensei If...

Murder.
